#LinuxMint announces upcoming version 18.3, named "Sylvia". Claims #Ubuntu ditching Unity will cause defections from Mint seem dubious to me #Linux

Staying on #Ubuntu LTS (16.04) has been kinda weird.

It is possible in prior LTS cycles I wasn't as experimental or something, but I am getting phased out of support for a lot of projects I want to use.

This is my issue with a lot of #jabber clients, and then just a bunch of random projects.

I have three apps installed via snap, but even that has been touch and go.

Did something major change midway through this cycle that broke distribution? Did a bunch of new tools come out suddenly?

@rysiek just like lots more organisations started using #GNU-Linux on the desktop when #Ubuntu made it much easier to do
