Wilkes was a radical journalist and politician who fought for the right of his voters, rather than the House of Commons, to determine their representatives. In 1768, the authorities arrested him. His supporters protested and soldiers shot them in the St George's Fields Massacre. During the American Revolution, Wilkes supported the American rebels. Víctor Vicente-PalaciosI recently read Zerocalcare's <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/comic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#comic</a> Kobane calling about the Kurdish situation in the <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/Syrian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Syrian</a> war. The author makes a comic similar to those made by Joe Sacco in <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/Palestine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Palestine</a>. It is a personal exercise of looking at a complex situation of a very mistreated ethnic group.My question now is what will happen to all that has been achieved by the <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/Kurds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Kurds</a> in all this time. Both <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/rebels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#rebels</a> and pro <a href="https://dair-community.social/tags/Erdogan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Erdogan</a> forces do not seem to me to make the context any calmer.
