kyle<p>I've been learning about resampling and I've got some nice spectrograms. if you want to take a sample and play it back at a different pitch, there's a surprising amount of work involved to make it sound good</p><p>i'm doing a similar test as described here:<br><a href="https://jeskola.net/xs1/content/test/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">jeskola.net/xs1/content/test/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br>15khz tone pitched up through an octave and then down. some of the notes are above the nyquist frequency (half the sample rate) so shouldn't be there at all ideally.</p><p>first, zero-order hold i.e. skipping or repeating samples as necessary. unusable unless you're making chiptune.<br>second, linearly interpolating between samples, still very bad</p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/dsp" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dsp</span></a></p>

Szymon Bęczkowski<p>I need to vent. Texas Instruments shipped a new version of Code Composer Studio with no option to create an empty project 🤷♂️. The issue is known to them (for a few years now) and they plan to patch it approximately in May. Why the fuck would they ship it without such a basic feature? Why not delay the release? There is a workaround but it only works on Windows. j5v<p>I was writing a .WAV exporter for Boop (audio app), because other available code seemed to be doing it wrong, with respect to negative values in PCM audio.</p><p>Specifically, some apps scale negative values over 128 steps, and positive values over 127. It's asymmetric.</p><p>And a problem, if apps don't agree.
