KE0FFT<p>And just like that, I added my first ever QSO outside of North America to the logbook. Olney, Illinois to New South Wales, Australia (8939 miles) running 100watts into a G5RV-Jr. wire antenna strung across the back yard on bird-feeder hooks - only about 7.5 feet off the ground! <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/CQDX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CQDX</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/10Meters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>10Meters</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/10MeterBand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>10MeterBand</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/KE0FFT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KE0FFT</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/KE0FFT10meterBand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KE0FFT10meterBand</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/KE0FFTicom7300" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KE0FFTicom7300</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.hams.social/tags/KE0FFTphoneSSB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KE0FFTphoneSSB</span></a></p>
Richard W4\G7EIX<p>Recorded today on a IC-9700 located in Leeds by G7DCT. Turned the audio into a short 'educational' video for those who never get the chance to see/hear the Aurora. Brings back so many memories of when I was first licensed in the UK. Can't wait to move back to Yorkshire and get another station built out ready for the peak of this cycle!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/aurora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aurora</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ssb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ssb</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/2m" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>2m</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/northernlights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>northernlights</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/cqdx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cqdx</span></a></p>
Steve Herman<p>Always amazed what 50 watts and a long wire antenna can do on the shortwaves from here in Virginia. Just had back-to-back FT-8 digital mode contacts on the 12-meter band with stations in St. Lucia (Caribbean) and Angola. <a href="https://journa.host/tags/CQDX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CQDX</span></a> <a href="https://journa.host/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>
David K2FI<p>I took advantage of the amazing weather in Boston over the weekend -- 65F/18C -- to get out and play radio for a bit. Propagation was iffy, but I heard PY6TV calling on 20M. That's a Brazilian call and I haven't worked much DX since I've moved up to Boston. The Super Antenna MP1 is pretty good, but it's still a compromise antenna, and I'm only running 100W. I was pleased that he came back to me! That's about 4200 miles/6800 kilometers.</p><p><a href="https://octodon.social/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://octodon.social/tags/SuperAntenna" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SuperAntenna</span></a> <a href="https://octodon.social/tags/ICOM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ICOM</span></a> <a href="https://octodon.social/tags/CQDX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CQDX</span></a></p>
