thesweetcheat<p>A rather ruined stone circle is a lovely location for today's <a href="https://toot.community/tags/StandingStoneSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StandingStoneSunday</span></a> </p><p>Hafodty circle, on the slopes of Tal y Fan above the Conwy valley. Only three stones still stand, with another three fallen. However, it forms another part of the incredible complex of sites encircling Tal y Fan. thesweetcheat<p>Big Rain sweeping across North Wales today, so here's a sunnier day for <a href="https://toot.community/tags/StandingStoneSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StandingStoneSunday</span></a> </p><p>The wonderful Maen-y-Bardd (The Poet's Stone) dolmen, set high on a Carneddau hillside overlooking the beautiful Conwy valley. </p><p>"...did the song come first, or the stone? thesweetcheat<p>The fine Cae Coch standing stone above the beautiful Conwy valley for today's <a href="https://toot.community/tags/StandingStoneSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StandingStoneSunday</span></a>. </p><p>The stone is a thin slab, but broad and tapering on the side that faces the valley. It's one of several stones on this part of the Tal y Fan slopes, likely marking the route to the wondrous Maen y Bardd chambered tomb. thesweetcheat<p>The two largest stones at Bwlch-y-Ddeufaen (Pass of the Two Stones) for today's <a href="https://toot.community/tags/StandingStoneSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StandingStoneSunday</span></a> </p><p>There are in fact a lot more than two stones here. As well as a couple more mid-sized uprights, there is a fan of very small standing stones, hidden in the reedy grass.</p><p>It's a wonderful palimpsest landscape that has seen the Bronze Age stone erectors, the tramp of Roman soldiers and the iron and wire of electricity pylons, all overlaid in shadowy presences. </p><p>This visit July 2011</p><p><a href="https://toot.community/tags/Carneddau" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Carneddau</span></a></p>
thesweetcheat<p>Staying in the complex of prehistoric sites that encircle Tal y Fan in Y Carneddau for <a href="https://toot.community/tags/StandingStoneSunday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StandingStoneSunday</span></a> with Cerrig Pryfaid stone circle.
