Napa Mill II

The Napa Mill has been around since 1884 and is now a historic landmark.
I like how the building stands tall in comparison to the other buildings in the area. The atmosphere surrounding the building is very artistic with the Napa River on one side, Downtown Napa on the other and a residential area on another.

Napa Mill II This is an image of the Napa Mill Located in downtown Napa, California. The foreground of the image shows outdoor tables, chairs, and umbrellas. At this time no one is occupying them as it is early in the morning and then sun is just coming up and the Mill has not opened for the day. The main building includes a round silo that stands in front of a taller elevator building behind it. The sky is clear blue on this sunny morning and the buildings reflect the sunlight boldly in the golden light.

Water Into Wine

I live in Northern California very near the Napa Valley and the heart of the Northern California Wine growing region.
I started out walking into the vineyard looking for the right perspective and angle for what I was looking for. As I setting up for the shot the irrigation system came on. Water Into Wine This is a lack and white image captured in the Napa Valley just south of Calistoga. The immediate foreground shows the different herbs and plants growing between the rows of grape vines. This image was captured during the early spring so the grapevines that are supported by steel frames are just beginning to bud. The irrigation system for the vineyard came on while I was taking the photo shooting jets of water across the vineyard, hence the title, Water Into Wine.
