Sandra Bond<p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/ScribesAndMakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScribesAndMakers</span></a> 28 Apr: Do you blog or journal about your work?</p><p>Irregularly. Every indie writer's support guide says I should do a newsletter. I don't; I'm not organised enough to. I sporadically update my author page on Facebook, or my author website. But the closest I come to a regular blog or journal is answering writing prompts right here on fedi. As well as this hashtag, I do <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/PennedPossibilities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PennedPossibilities</span></a>, <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/WordWeavers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordWeavers</span></a>, <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/WritersCoffeeClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritersCoffeeClub</span></a> and <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a>.</p>
Sandra Bond<p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a> 28 (picking one I missed as catchup): Saturday (!) excerpt (optional word: special)</p><p>Chuck nodded at Vanessa as if she’d come up with some pearl of utter wisdom. “See, that’s why you’re perfect for the club. You’re special.”</p><p>Vanessa gave him a sharp look, and Chuck shook his head. “Not like that, special. Unique. You don’t conform.”</p><p>“Wouldn’t if I could, couldn’t if I would,” Vanessa said smugly, and bit down on her gum.</p><p>“You’re the same, Darroll,” Chuck said to him.</p>

There is no algorithm like on X/Twitter and other services to generate a timeline of posts (called toots) on Mastodon. To do this you follow people that interest you, which you did for me so you've got this. We <em>also</em> follow keyword hashtags like <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/WritingCommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritingCommunity</span></a> and include those hashtags in our posts when they apply. </p><p>Including the following hashtags and the accounts allow you to be <em>found</em> by like-minded people. If you don't include them, you won't be noticed. Much. You do have a recognizable name… </p><p>There are also hashtag writer challenge games, where like-minded authors reply and discuss author-y things. It is both a good way to procrastinate (as if we need that), but also an opportunity to think about current characters and techniques and read what other authors think about the subject. Here are some incomplete lists to get you started. </p><p><strong>These identify your community.</strong></p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Writer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Writer</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Author" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Author</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/WritersOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritersOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Writing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Writing</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/SF" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SF</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/scifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>scifi</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/ScienceFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScienceFiction</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Fantasy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fantasy</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Mystery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mystery</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Romance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Romance</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Thriller" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Thriller</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> </p><p><strong>Games:</strong></p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/PennedPossibilities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PennedPossibilities</span></a> <br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/WritersCoffeeClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritersCoffeeClub</span></a> <br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/ScibesAndMakers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScibesAndMakers</span></a><br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/WordWeavers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordWeavers</span></a> <br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a> <br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/EngenderedWriting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EngenderedWriting</span></a><br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Writever" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Writever</span></a> <br><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Writephant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Writephant</span></a> </p><p>There's more, but if you check these out, you'll quickly be surrounded by the like-minded. Also, since I follow a multitude of authors, but also artists and creative people, you are welcome to raid my follow list on my profile page for other accounts to follow. </p><p>Last, please take a moment to fill in your profile page. I do admit your name and banner picture is a great intro, but it's a good place to note what you love to talk about, what you would rather talk about, and it may not just be about writing and publishing. Today is good time to do that. (I guess RS is a little pushy.) Again, you are welcome to look at my profile page (and others) for ideas. </p><p>If you provide links anywhere on Mastodon, but definitely when building your profile page, include the full http version of the link. If you do, it becomes clickable. </p><p>Of note in regard to profiles, you can <em>pin</em> things like a longer introduction post or an essay you wish to share, so it is the first post visitors see. It's one of the features and actions hidden in the three dots menu (…) at the end of a post. </p><p>Again, welcome. Feel free to ask questions. If you use community hashtags, others might answer also.</p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/BoostingIsSharing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BoostingIsSharing</span></a></p>
Quasi<p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a> 27: Time periods you enjoy writing about?</p><p>I am not one for settings, my stories are almost always about the interactions. Meaning what I enjoy is looking 4 months, 4 years, 40 years down the road (or back into the past!) from wherever I start. My short stories demonstrate this.</p><p>Also, where I start tends to be the present, give or take 10 years. Because I dislike world building and hate doing lots of historical/predictive research.</p><p>I suspect this is a niche audience.</p>
Lyssa Chiavari<p><a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a> 27: Time periods you enjoy writing about</p><p>I tried writing historical fiction before and hated it 🤣 But I think it was the time period I was doing (mid-19th century). I liked writing the future for Fourth World, and I think I'd like to write the ancient past, Bronze Age especially</p>

Then it's the far future, full of space colonization, and the forgotten past, when advanced human civilizations ruled Earth, before some kind of disaster (self-inflicted or not) wiped them from existence…=)</p>

Time periods you enjoy writing about?</p><p>I'm lazy so writing about the present day is easiest, and hence my favourite. There are reasons that the timeline-jumping in The Psychopath Club doesn't send people back or forward in time, only sideways. And plot is only one of those reasons.</p>

h2lift_SciFi<p>I'm still some 20k into my WIP on the TimeWall.<br>It isn't going as fast as I'd like, but it will get finished, in Time.<br>I do like playing with words, because English is so malleable.<br>For example<br>"...trying to hide the nightmare of his Hims, pushing him out of Time."<br><a href="https://twit.social/tags/WritingCommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WritingCommunity</span></a><br><a href="https://twit.social/tags/TimeTravelAuthors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TimeTravelAuthors</span></a></p>

It's not always a heist. Sometimes they go to one place to set things right. But, as you know, those who needed that fix won't get the benefits. Only those on the current timeline/reality. But don't tell that to the crew. That could be problematic. For them, that is…=)</p>

Not from his parents, not from his school, not from his friends (because he doesn't ask for it and hides his need from it too well for them to see it), certainly not from Horsehead (although Horsehead and Darroll might both argue otherwise).</p>
Julie Bihn<p>TITANIC VOYAGE is about saving Clara Jones from the Titanic. Of course, she wouldn't have needed saving if she weren't so deadset on helping others escape the ship, which helps keep her from being a damsel in distress. Liam and Rocky also need each other's help.
