We're still on hook for massive cleanup bills at multiple abandoned resource extraction sites because greedy corporates leave after destroying ecosystems & taxpayer monies are used by corrupt governments to deal with industrial waste cleanup. Most sites aren't ever cleaned up. Been to several abandoned well sites in AB & BC.
