Bill Gallagher Photography<p>Mariposa Grove</p><p>Just inside the south gate of Yosemite by roughly 1/2 mile you find the parking lot to this magnificent grove of redwoods. From the parking lot there are a number hiking trails that one can take that are easy to moderate hikes.<br>I had this whole grove mostly to myself. Bill Gallagher Photography<p>Mariposa Grove</p><p>There are a couple of groves of Redwoods in Yosemite National Park and Mariposa Grove near the south entrance is one of them. <br>I've been through his grove a number of times admiring these giants but this time seemed special. I woke early the morning and had this whole grove mostly to myself. Back from my trip to <a href="https://mastodon.lol/tags/MariposaGrove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MariposaGrove</span></a> in 2010-ish. My love of trees was not by any means new, but was sparked into obsession when witnessing the giant beauties there. </p><p>This is me with the <a href="https://mastodon.lol/tags/CaliforniaTunnelTree" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CaliforniaTunnelTree</span></a>. This <a href="https://mastodon.lol/tags/GiantSequoia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GiantSequoia</span></a> is the only remaining living tunnelled tree in Mariposa Grove (the other fell in 1969). It was carved through in 1895 to promote tourism, though the tunnelling greatly affects the health of the tree.</p>
