It’s fine to have them present, but who would want to live in a city where they were responsible for #PublicSafety ?

Miia Mustang
You know how US cops are basically a bunch of unvetted and loosely trained sociopaths/murderers/fascists?

I feel Finland's equivalent of that is our private security industry.

Like... As bad as our cops are, they at least make "some" attempts of not using too much force (it does happen, but they try not to use lethal force).

Whereas our private security companies has had a past of:

- Maintaining (illegal) registries and profiles of "undesireables"

- Systematically neglecting beatings/assaults committed by their employees

- Lobbying municipalities (especially the City of Helsinki) into spending absurd amounts of money for what amounts to extrajudicial street patrols.

- Cultivating a culture of violence and racism within their workplaces.

So like... While these are nowhere near as deadly OR have qualified immunity in legal terms, I think there's a certain similarity between these firms and the way US cops are.

#ACAB #PrivateSecurity #MallCops
