Jon Sullivan<p>Here's an old light switch that's in the basement of a house across the street from us. It works like any light switch. Click it one way and it’s dark. Click it the other way and the light's on.</p><p>Notice anything odd about it?</p><p>(Does anyone know why it would be this way? It's cast metal so it's seems like an unlikely mistake.)</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/LightSwitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LightSwitch</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Strange" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Strange</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Odd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Odd</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/mystery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mystery</span></a></p>
Perry<p>Hoping someone out there can offer the advice I need to solve some of my light fittings 😅</p><p>I’ve got a few of the <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/aqara" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aqara</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/zigbee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee</span></a> light switches around, but have a few points that are like these brown switch panel on rough brick. I’m not sure how I’m going to get a switch to sit on that as they’re 2-3 gang vertically, are smaller, and it seems as though the brick was cut to fit them.</p><p>The Aqara switches are larger and wouldn’t fit.. so is there some custom mould I could put there to raise the switches from the wall?</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/lightswitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lightswitch</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/lightfixture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lightfixture</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/selfhosted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selfhosted</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/zigbee2mqtt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zigbee2mqtt</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/smarthome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>smarthome</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/smartlight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>smartlight</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/smartswitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>smartswitch</span></a></p>
David Hembrow<p>Here's a plank of wood with three old light switches on it, a battery pack and a few LEDs.</p><p>Who would want such a thing ? Our ~18 month old grandson. He's fascinated with switching the lights on and off so I made this as a Christmas present so that he could safely flick switches as much as he likes and watch the lights go on and off.</p><p>It got dropped and one of the light switch covers broke (bakelite-like plastics aren't great with impacts) so I just repaired it with a new (old) switch cover.<br><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/lightswitch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lightswitch</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/unusualtoy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>unusualtoy</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/startthemearlywithelectronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>startthemearlywithelectronics</span></a></p>
