Olaf KnechtenHeute erscheint „Quartette“, meine Übersetzung des Gedichtbands, den Jacob Israël de Haan während seiner Jahre in Jerusalem geschrieben hat und der 1924 kurz vor seiner Ermordung erschien. Ich danke meinem Lektor Joachim Bartholomae, ebenso dem Verlag Männerschwarm (Salzgeber), dem Nederlands Letterenfonds für seine Unterstützung und nicht zuletzt Brian Doyle für seine Hilfe.<br> <a href="https://www.maennerschwarm.de/buch/quartette/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.maennerschwarm.de/buch/quartette/</a><br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/JacobIsraelDeHaan?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#JacobIsraelDeHaan</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Jerusalem?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Jerusalem</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Israel?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Israel</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Palästina?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Palästina</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Lyrik?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Lyrik</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/DutchLiterature?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DutchLiterature</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/QueerWriting?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#QueerWriting</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/JewishLiterature?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#JewishLiterature</a>
Gigi<p>Just cracked open my fresh copy of "Voornamelijk vrouwen" by Connie Palmen! Talk about fashionably late Christmas presents - this one took its sweet time getting here, but good things come to those who wait, right?</p> <p>At this point my Palmen collection is reaching slightly obsessive levels, but can you blame me? Her writing style hits that sweet spot between philosophical depth and raw humanity that just draws you in. There's something about the way she peels back layers of human experience that makes you feel like she's reading your diary while simultaneously teaching you quantum physics.</p> <p><a href="https://ramblingreaders.org/hashtag/72237" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ConniePalmen</a> <a href="https://ramblingreaders.org/hashtag/72238" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DutchLiterature</a> <a href="https://ramblingreaders.org/hashtag/2187" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#CurrentlyReading</a></p><p>(comment on <a href="https://ramblingreaders.org/book/419667" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><i>Voornamelijk vrouwen</i></a>)</p>
Tombe la pluie - Theespookje<p>So here is the Dutch book I just got for free once cleaned (there's still some of the sticky stuff, I could post the pictures but idk since they reimbursed me I don't want the poor guy getting fired for food), De Avonden by Gerard Reve (The Evenings in English I think?), a nice evening read 😁 A Dutch classic right at my reading level and in the kind of setting I like 🫶 <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/dutch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dutch</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/dutchbooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dutchbooks</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/dutchliterature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dutchliterature</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/classics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>classics</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/dutchclassics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dutchclassics</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/literature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>literature</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/reading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reading</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/readers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>readers</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/readingcommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>readingcommunity</span></a> <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/booklovers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>booklovers</span></a></p>
Chiel G, Nevele<p>I have been talking about this book to many of my friends over the years but the English translation has been out of print since 1989. Finally I found an affordable copy of J.Bernlefs Dutch classic online at a second hand <a href="https://aus.social/tags/bookshop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookshop</span></a> in Boston. Not even the biggest of surprises since the story takes place in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Massachusetts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Massachusetts</span></a>. And got it delivered here in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/melbourne" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>melbourne</span></a> <br>But now others will have to read it, because I want to discuss this book with the people here in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/australia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>australia</span></a> that didn't grow up with this book on their high school reading lists. And the book is certainly a better read once you get a few years older than you were in highschool. <br><a href="https://aus.social/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/bernlef" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bernlef</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/outofmind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>outofmind</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/marsman" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marsman</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/brainshadows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brainshadows</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/hersenschimmen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hersenschimmen</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/dutchliterature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>dutchliterature</span></a></p>
