William Canna-bass
Got another block for...checks notes... wanting my local police department not to violate citizen's civil rights, cost the town millions of dollars (increase my tax burden), learning about the legal system in my new state, and ensure my personal safety (while I wait on an official Autism Diag) so that I don't do the wrong thing and end up killed/tortured by police.

Just checked the https://kolektiva.social/about and I don't think I am violating any server rules, but please let me know @moderation

Personally I think it would be great if our police didn't yank civilians out of their cars at gun point and handcuff little children because of an error in their database listed the car as stolen (and cost taxpayers thousands of dollars for the clear civil rights violation).

Also I think it would be great to have a mental health Emergency response team, so that armed agents of the state with hair triggers aren't the first responders for mental health crises.
My cousin called the police (CA) when she had a mental health crisis and left in the freezing rain for 45 minutes with torture-cuffs on, and then spent a couple of days in jail, not sleeping and being abused at every step of the system.

If my town police killed an unarmed person, I would have to move.

Why do I say #ACAB while simultaneously attending a #CommunityPolicing event?

Police in this country believe they are above the law and constantly flaunt their corruption while needlessly brutalizing civilians while costing tax payers millions of dollars annually. Justice is not blind and favors the rich over the poor.

Police need to obey the laws they enforce, including traffic laws and lying to people.
If it is a crime for a civilian to speed or lie to police, it should be the same standard for them (assuming they are not traveling to an emergency with their lights on)

In fact, the father of modern policing, was against corruption, militarization, and the othering of civilians. Issues we are still dealing with today.

Othering people, including cops, ends the opportunity for communication.

Besides, I took an oath that is printed in indelible ink on my arm (currently blurring due to macrophage movement) to love my neighbor as I love my self. There isn't an exception listed in the Holy scripture.
