A few years back I got Avram Patt to tell the story of how a group of back-to-the-lander hippies took over the board of the Washington (county) in the 1980s and 90s and set it on the path to become the first 100% utility in the country. It was an intense scrap for a few year, and the results are pretty inspiring...


@mattcropp @ntnsndr I wonder how things like that could happen today, given how disenfranchised, skeptic (or straight cynical) young people are today...
