Hi all! We're the folks behind Co-op Cloud (https://coopcloud.tech), a project which aims to build out a digital configuration commons for tech co-ops and democratic tech collectives. Our approach aims to maximise sharing, co-operation and reuse for setting up and maintaining libre software infrastructure. We have a public matrix room at `#coopcloud:autonomic.zone`, feel welcome! The project is currently in public alpha and super young ☁️ 🎩 💻

@FediFollows @coopcloud NGL, I'm really excited for #Abra! It's like #HomeBrew for the cloud. I've been trying to figure out how to package and distribute microservices in a way that cuts across who "owns" the infrastructure; especially as I move more and more of my clients infrastructure to #Libre / #CoOperative software.
Co-op Cloud is an organisation that helps co-operatives and collectives to create their own online clouds using free open source software. You can follow at:
You can find out more including technical details at https://coopcloud.tech
https://recipes.coopcloud.tech is a first foray into Elm (elm-lang.org) for Autonomic, after our comrade @takkaria recommended it for front-end apps back in 2019.
Feels like the jury's still out on the language choice. Hard to argue with the basically-instant search, and the guaranteed zero runtime errors (as long as our JSON doesn't break, anyway 😅) – but it seems to have created friction finding folks to work on a really core piece of Co-op Cloud infrastructure.
Our updated "recipe" catalogue is live; https://recipes.coopcloud.tech
Feedback, suggestions, bug reports all welcome on the catalogue's git repo: https://git.coopcloud.tech/coop-cloud/recipes.coopcloud.tech/ or in our Matrix channels 🙏
Today's recommended follows:
🌟 @xyzzy - Randomly generated text adventure scenarios, you can reply to interact with the scenario
🌟 @Augbot - Creates amazing giant art installations that people can go inside
🌟 @BirbsandDragons - Weird off-beat humorous webcomic about a potato bird and a noodle dragon
🌟 @coopcloud - Helping co-operatives and collectives create their own online clouds with FOSS
🌟 @opensciencevids - Posting public domain and creative commons videos about science
contrary to all previous logic we have a new release out then 🙃 "abra upgrade" will get you latest, this is part of pushing out the new recipe catalogue 🚀 https://docs.coopcloud.tech/abra/upgrade/#v04x-v05x
🥳 lumbung.space is online 🥳
We've been working with ruangrupa & friends for a while now and we're super proud to see the project launched!
Here's an excerpt from the public post:
The aim of lumbung.space is to create a digital infrastructure that is maintained by the lumbung network without being dependent upon exploitative digital infrastructures. The pandemic and the ensuing digitization of many aspects of creative practice, offered an extra reason to focus on networked media practices. lumbung.space, therefore, is an urgent experiment that tries out what an artist-run digital space could be like.
lumbung.space was conceptualized and developed together with @rra an artist and doctoral candidate in Interaction Design at Malmö University and with @autonomic. Their work for lumbung.space is part of the @coopcloud initiative, which allows other collectives to set up similar infrastructures.
annnnd there is a patch release fixing two critical bugs, thanks for testing / fixed all, "abra upgrade" to get the latest 🤞
🎺 the new `abra` stable (v0.4.x series) is finally out 🎺 this is the final alpha series before beta 🤯 you can run `abra upgrade` to get the latest copy of `abra`. There are migration docs for this release, some stuff has changed: https://docs.coopcloud.tech/abra/upgrade/#v03x-v04x. "stable" doesn't guarantee a bug free experience 🙃, we're still in alpha, but we think the interface churn is coming to and end now! If you run into any issues, please report https://git.coopcloud.tech/coop-cloud/organising/issues/new 😎 Thanks for your testing efforts! Enjoy 💓

Delighted to announce that we have finally published our federation proposal! 🎉
This is a document which aims to formalise the organisation of the project, focusing on a democratic process.
It's open for comments, feedback, critique & amendments 🤓 We'd love to hear what you think 👂
Here comes another one 🌅 An overview of what we've been up to since the last update in December: https://coopcloud.tech/blog/this-month-in-coop-cloud-january-march-2022/
This is Servers.coop – we're making a recipe to set up a community server provider, and cooking up our own dog-food by offering Virtual Private Server space.
We'll be starting out on donated hardware, powered by renewable energy, in Ashton-under-Lyme in the UK.
We'll be launching a crowdfunding campaign shortly to make sure costs are covered for the first year – follow us on here, join our Matrix space https://matrix.to/#/!bDeUsKuqTQwBjBEAuj:autonomic.zone?via=autonomic.zone&via=matrix.org&via=gottsnack.net , or look out for details of our upcoming e-mail list.
(PS thanks to Sunbeam.city for hosting us on here)
