My dude, people considering protesting Dorsey is not discrimination. Billionaires are the most privileged people on Earth. They are the establishment, the blockchains they shill are in service of Milton Friedmans disruption of the status quo to benefit them.
I.E the betrayal of the social contract.
If you're shitposting pick a better subject, cos you sure as hell are not hacking the planet.
@onepict My main reason for not protesting Dorsey is that he’s mostly small fry. I would not do him the honor of protesting him and pretending he matters that much.
@luis_in_brief yeah, you weren't the one calling for moderation in protesting.
@luis_in_brief but I think Drew's mainly aiming that at the FOSDEM committee than Dorsey.
@onepict I’m deeply curious what the hell they were thinking.
@luis_in_brief I think a lot of us are.
I think the issue is that when you're running such a large event, the cashflow becomes a higher priority. Especially when it's a free to everyone event.
It's giving me Freenode vibes with the gradual takeover of a community space.
You know chasing sponsorship is difficult. I think that's what's driven it, not so much the money part, but the relationship part.
I get the feeling the committee are a bit removed from the community now.
@luis_in_brief When an event is so big, there is a degree of separation from who attends.
Most of us only interact with the volunteers.
So there's the folks who've been around from the beginning and who helps you get it off the ground each year.
So of course the organisers have a closer relationship with the sponsors. Sometimes they even work or have worked in the sponsor orgs. It's a natural progression.
