jjg @jjg

Been playing with for about a week and it seems like a nice replacement for , but I have to say I hate the non-up-front way that the features and apps appear to work but then interrupt you with a "this requires membership" prompt when you try to do something.

I'd rather have the features properly disabled instead of confusing me about what is and what isn't part of the free version.

It's also unclear if you can get rid of these by paying once, or if you *must* have a subscription.

To be clear I'm happy to pay for the software, but I want to buy something, I don't want a subscription.

It seems like "media library" should be a solved problem by now, but so far I've had no luck finding a truly system that meets my needs.

Maybe it's time to add that to the project list.

@jjg So many solutions exist but all have different drawbacks.

I bought lifetime emby license a while back and there are no restrictions with it. It is the best total solution I've found but it has annoyances still.

@kelbot Cool. I was considering that but I'm kind of afraid they will change-up the rules down the road (seems like I read about them doing that once already).

@jjg yeah there is a bit of controversy recently about them introducing nagware features and closing the source to the mobile apps. I got the lifetime when they had a sale. I probably wouldn't purchase it now if i didn't already have it.
