> If we believe in democracy, then allowing the economy to run by a patchwork of private command structures, with no internal democracy or accountability, should make our stomachs turn. Alexis de Tocqueville once asked; “can it be believed that the Democracy which has overthrown the Feudal system and vanquished Kings, will retreat before tradesmen and capitalists?”. The question he poses requires an address, and not all are shy to the challenge.

@ink_slinger @risabee those are the closing remarks of the cited article.
Basically it argues that unions should get more involved in promoting worker-ownership.
@fabianhjr a few months back I had a discussion with a guy I know (who's about to get a PhD in economics, BTW) who argued that the lack of democracy in corporate decisionmaking, together with a profit-driven mentality, are actually pros and not cons, as they ensure success. The funniest part? The guy identifies himself as center-left...
@Antanicus (authoritarian) center-left. :P
Together they are pros, in a capitalist way, if there is a glorious leader that can push forward. (Example, an Elon Musk)
