I learned the etymology of economy
(from Greek οίκος – "household" and νέμoμαι – "manage")
from reading The Roots of Civilization by Abdullah Öcalan, whose vision and leadership inspires many of those fighting for liberation in #Rojava (Northern Syria) right now.
He traces the way economics began in a feminine, home-making/caring way, was usurped by patriarchal forces and calls for a return to its original form of community care.
