That was a wee adventure!

Mistakes were made, but workarounds were deployed. We didn't need to bail.

Best thing: First time in a tent for Skye. She just trotted in and laid down where I said. She did get a little cold but doesn't like anything over her like a down jacket or bit of sleeping bag - I'd have liked a warm snuggle too.

A somewhat unusual view of Benidorm, Costa Blanca, taken from the forat (cave tunnel) under the Bernia ridge. We were bivying there ready for an early start on the ridge the next day, and even in late March, the heat of the day was lingering and really amplifying the scents of the spring flowers and rosemary (and the small ruminants which often overnight here as well...). This was a contrast to the previous time we'd been here one February, when the temperature was -5C and we were shivering in down sleeping bags.

Benidorm is the coastal strip running horizontally. On a night like this, even the high rise ghetto full of British drunks (we're extremely sorry for sending them over) looks quite lovely.

This was taken on a long exposure, to show the lights across the plain leading out to the coastal high rises of Benidorm itself, so the cars on the roads have traced solid red and white lines. It is not long after dusk, so the sky is darkening but still with red, blue and yellow colours streaked through it. THe coastal strip of the resort is one long line of high rise hotels, given a golden colour by their lights. In truth, it's a terrible place, but from up here it looks attractive.

Lots of people will tell you that wild camping is a criminal offence in England and Wales.

Do NOT listen to them, as they don't know the facts. Despite the PCSC Bill having been made law in 2022, wild camping is NOT a crime, and even the National Police Chiefs Council says so.
