DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979
You're A Woman, I'm A Machine
2012 Canada reissue

Snuffing out the rest of Sunday with a little bit of noise for last spin of the night.

This is the only DFA1979 record I’ve ever liked. Their second album (which came 10 years after) didn’t do much for me, same everything that followed that.
Which is fine, because as lethargic and uninspiring as I find the latter day albums, that’s how much I LOVE this one.

GOO GOO DOLLS
A Boy Named Goo (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
2025 2xLP Reissue

Before the song “Iris” ruined them forever, & turned them into a bloated, overproduced pop band, they were the 2nd coming of The Replacements. They wrote catchy as fuck hard-hitting power pop rock songs, & A Boy Named Goo is the last gasp of the classic Goos, despite the presence of “Name”.
This album is still awesome, & this press sounds great.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
Nebraska
2015 U.S. RSD Reissue

If there was ever a record for a bleak, dark, rainy Sunday… this is it.

Nebraska is the #brucespringsteen album I’ve listened to most. A wonderful, stark, bare bones album of powerful, stripped down songs, done on a 4-track machine in his bedroom.
Masterpiece.

I listen to this pressing more than my original, because despite the source material being not well recorded to begin with, this one sounds better.

DEAD BOYS
Young Loud And Snotty
2023 U.S. reissue

A classic #punk record that I don’t play all that often, but when I do, am transported back to the 8-Ball Skate Park when I was 14. This was on all the time, & I remember having a hard time finding a copy of the whole album back then.
One day, my friend Ian gave me a blank 90 minute tape with this on one side, and Buzzcocks’ Love Bites on the other.
A time machine for me for sure. Still sounds great.

JOHN FOXX
John Foxx
1981 Canada pressing

A compilation that was only released in Canada, & a perfect Saturday record.

“Underpass” will forever be Foxx’s signature song, but many other great cuts here, like “Mr. No”, “Miles Away” “Metal Beat” which is also the label that ONLY released John Foxx records, owned by Virgin.

John Foxx is criminally underrated. ULTRAVOX are clearly great, but his solo stuff deserves more praise.

HARUOMI HOSINO, SHIGERU SUZUKI, AND TATSURO YAMASHITA
Pacific
Unofficial 2017 Reissue

This bootleg has no business sounding this phenomenal. I can’t imagine it being different sounding than an OG. It’s that good.

A very unique, killer album.
Where do you even file this?
It’s #jazz lounge-y, #electronic ; tropical sounding and very groovy. Folk vibes, country vibes, a fusion of many things.

If you don’t know this record, give it a sample. Really cool.

I've started watching a lot of #DJ sets on #Twitch.. you can tell the people mixing genuinely vs. those playing a pre-made mix.

Genuine DJs: Standing around having a vape / cup of tea then paying attention to the decks as each song comes to the end.

Fakers: Wildly prancing around not leaving the mixing desk alone for more than 5 seconds with flourishing hand movements, constantly turning the knobs and pressing buttons even while a song is nowhere near the start or end.
