Just 3 hrs ago "The Unknown Race" started in Lucca, Italy. It's an interesting concept where the riders get the first CP coordinates only 1 hr prior to the start and then find the subsequent CP only once reaching the one prior. So they have to plan their route on the spot.

With an eclectic field in women and men it should be a treat to follow.

Good example of bike racing can consider gender from Stagecoach400 (Californian off-road ultra). Non-Binary rides get their own category and are not just included in some "inclusive" variant of women...

(Also they have 3 women and 2 non-binary riders in the top ten finishers. 😍 )

Zachary Morvant was the first to reach Idyllwild in 46hr28min, but sleep deprivation, dehydration, and everything that comes along with that got the best of him toward the end, and he ended up on a different climb off route. These things happen! He messaged me to let me know. His finish is still recorded, but with an *Asterix, which just means that the title of the first official finisher of the route in its entirety is Jocelyn De la Rosa who came in shortly after at a smoking fast 46:57. Both of these riders had a great attitude and were respectful and communicative 🙌 Thank you both. Emma Missale was the next rider in, and the first woman with an extremely fast time of 49:51 on this tough course, and she was stoked on the desert. Frances Hacker was first non-binary finisher at 54:54 and enjoyed all the birds on the route. Al Parks was the first singlespeeder to complete the route with a time of 58:02 and they enjoyed the tailwinds dropping into the desert! More riders are finishing throughout today and likely the next day or two. Wer mit dem Gedanken spielt eine #Langstrecke auf dem #Fahrrad anzugehen, sollte mal bei #DotWatcher rein schauen. #Rennrad, #MTB, #Gravel, Eintägig oder Mehrtägig, für alle ist was dabei. Mit ein wenig Training sind 180 -200 km auf dem Rennrad auch mit 5000 hm gut zu schaffen. Und spätestens dann hat man Blut geleckt.

Endurance cycling fans will enjoy this full length doco about Lachlan Morton's record-setting lap around #Australia last year. I enjoyed dotwatching while he was out there, so good to see the film out! I'm watching it in sections, and it's great so far. It's quite beautifully shot, with lots of gorgeous Aussie scenes, which is healing my homesick little heart 💚

Juhu: Das Abenteuer #Langstrecke wird für mich dieses Jahr eine neue Dimension einnehmen: Ich habe einen Platz beim #mittelgebirgeclassique #mc2205 bekommen, meinem ersten #ultracyclingadventure.

Nach dem Start in #NeustadtAnDerWeinstraße und ersten Bergen im #pfälzerwald wird die kletterlastige vorgegebene Route in den #schwarzwald führen und diesen im Süden erstmalig gen #jura wieder verlassen. Vorbei am #Chasseral gehts von Süd nach Nord durch die #Vogesen zurück in den #pälzerwald zum Ziel am #hambacherschloss. Bis dahin werden ca. 1.100 Kilometer sowie um die 24.000 Höhenmeter über 40 Pässe/Berge in den Beinen stecken. Das Zeitlimit kenne ich noch gar nicht :blobpats:. Ich vermute mal, es wird irgendwo bei 120 +/- 4 Std. liegen (116 Stunden waren es mal auf etwa kürzerer Strecke).

Am 1. Juni gehts los.

Liebe #Autofahrerinnen (#Autofahrer sind #mitgemeint), denkt bitte beim links #überholen von #linksabbiegern daran, dass euer vorhaben #überraschend ungut ausgehen könnte.

Habt eure #Waffen bitte besser im Griff (langsam fahren hilft! #tempolimit), denn in dem #Wartehäuschen schlafen ich und gleichgesinnte (#Langstreckenfahrradfahrerinnen, wieder mitgemeint, schon wissen) gelegentlich und #unerwartet warten dort auch Mitmenschen auf ihren Bus.

Eure begeisterten #Radfahrer, die dafür die Schuld tragen, dass ihr weniger im Stau steht.

Anlass ist diese Meldung:

"[...] Das Auto des 21jährigen wurde abgewiesen, kam von der Fahrbahn ab und in einem angrenzenden Wartehäuschen zum Liegen. Durch die Wucht werden Teile des Häuschens auf die Fahrbahn geschleudert und der Pkw des 39Jährigen beschädigt. Der Pkw des 21Jährigen musste von der Feuerwehr aus den Trümmern des Wartehäuschens geborgen werden."

#wolltendlich konnte ich in der Vorweihnachtswoche erfolgreich fahren.
1000 km in 4 Tagen bei nie über 10 Grad, meist unter 5 Grad. Zwei Nächte im Freien unter einem schützenden Dach. Mindestens zu einem Drittel nasse Straßen und Wege. Eine #Grenzerfahrung.
Ich bin unterstützt worden mit Übernachtungsangeboten, Übernachtungen und #Sachspenden.

So zusammengekommen sind 550,- Euro. Diese verdopple ich gerne und überweise den Betrag von 550,- an Ärzte ohne Grenzen _und_ den Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder in Freiburg.

Obendrein weiß ich von 1.500,- Euro, die direkt an Ärzte ohne Grenzen und den Förderverein für krebskranke Kinder in Freiburg gespendet wurden. Vielleicht waren es mehr. Vielleicht haben auch andere Organisationen profitiert!? Das würde mich sehr freuen.

Das Zusammenschreiben der Zahlen und Niederschreiben macht die Kälte fast vergessen und Lust auf eine Wiederholung im kommenden Jahr.

Apropos - kommt gut "rüber" und bleibt gesund.
