Plans for the £100m #Liverpool #Baltic station have been approved, paving the way for improved connectivity in one of the city’s most vibrant areas. Set on Merseyrail’s Northern Line in the Baltic Triangle, the new station will feature step-free access, modern facilities, and strong links to active travel networks. Highways work begins in autumn 2025, with station construction starting in early 2026 and opening expected by late 2027. Backed by public support and funded through the City Region Sustainable #Transport Settlement, the project supports Mayor Steve Rotheram’s vision for a fully integrated, London-style transport system. It complements wider improvements including a new train fleet, station upgrades, and future stations at Daresbury, Woodchurch, and Carr Mill. The station aims to cut congestion, support net-zero targets, and boost access to jobs, education, and opportunity across the Liverpool City Region.

I have so many pictures I forget I have them! This is the same bus from the photo I posted the other day - the one with the red jacket! ✨
On a completely unrelated note, if anyone could tell me how to use Mastodon I would be very grateful! I've made an account and I am confused. Thank you! 😂✨

#London #Transport (LT) News (No. 24 - March 22 1974) clipping:
LT addressed the 1974 oil crisis by exploring alternative fuels and energy-saving measures. Experts reported that North Sea oil could stabilise #UK fuel prices for over 50 years, though cheap oil was gone for good. Diesel buses remained the most viable option, but LT researched battery and electric alternatives. The Underground aimed to cut energy use with regenerative braking. Natural gas was chosen to replace oil at Greenwich power station. Meanwhile, LT upgraded staff facilities, including a £15,000 transformation of New Cross garage canteen, marking a return to leading industrial catering standards.

#Salford Central station will reopen on Wednesday 23 April following the first phase of a £10m upgrade led by #Transport for Greater #Manchester (TfGM) to improve accessibility and passenger experience. Originally due to reopen on 21 April, the delay allows Northern to complete final safety checks. Closed since 10 February, the station now features a new roof, wider platform 2, upgraded ticket office, improved signage, and information points, with further enhancements—such as accessible toilets and braille maps—planned. Until reopening, valid rail tickets can be used on #BeeNetwork buses between Salford Crescent, Salford Central, and key city centre stations. Additional closures are scheduled for Sunday 27 April and Sunday 4 May, and passengers are advised to plan ahead.

Day 22 cont 🚜🌾 🤼 🏡🏘️🏠🏠🏠

“Traditionally, #Queensland candidates, whether federal or state, promise to take the fight to #Canberra. They project themselves as defiantly parochial, unashamedly maroon, with a vested interest in the north. More recently, however, #power has shifted from the #regions to the #urban south-east, which is more likely to welcome new #arrivals from other states than Queensland country towns. Amid all this growth, the lines of #responsibility have blurred between federal, state and even local government. Rather than fighting Canberra, the parties – including the Greens, who thrive on street-level combat – have taken to #fighting each other.

At the last election, the #Greens picked up three seats in Greater #Brisbane, riding the winds of change. The #TealMovement was unsuccessful in its first federal foray into Queensland, in the seat of Groom, although Suzie Holt enjoyed a healthy flow of preferences and is running again.

For now, the closest thing Queensland has to #independents are Bob Katter and Gerard Rennick, but the south-east is becoming used to newcomers.”

The government plans to spend £117,000,000 on old people’s homes during the next ten years. By 1972 it is hoped that more than 1,000 new residential homes for elderly people will have been built. The number of people aged over 65 is expected to increase by one third in the next twenty years.

Reflections on a Rainy Day / Riflessioni su un Giorno di Pioggia

While waiting to go to the dentist I saw this bus stopped with nobody in it and I liked the way the rain was beaded on the windscreen. Stroke of luck was this person in a cool red jacket and umbrella. Second stroke of luck, my dentist let me leave with all my teeth. Pretty good day if you ask me! ✨
