Ainsi, depuis presque 700 ans, chaque année, le jour du mercredi des cendres, le village de Cournonterral, dans l'Hérault, est fermé de 15h à 18h à toute personne qui n'est pas du village, y compris les journalistes. La police interdit l'accès au village à tous les "estrangers" pour éviter que ceux-ci se fassent agresser par les paillasses.
