Donavon Parish, 29, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi,
pleaded guilty today to one count of
#cyberstalking and five counts of #abuse and #harassment using a telecommunications device.

Parish also admitted to a special finding that he targeted his victims based on their actual and perceived #religion.

According to court documents, during April and May 2022, the defendant used a voiceover internet protocol service to make a series of phone calls to #synagogues and #Jewish-owned businesses in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

In these calls, the defendant spoke to individuals answering the telephone calls on behalf of their respective institutions, at which time he repeatedly referenced the #genocide of approximately six million Jewish people during the Holocaust, stating, among other things,
“Heil Hitler,”
“all Jews must die,”
“we will put you in work camps,”
“gas the Jews” and
“Hitler should have finished the job.”

Last week I asked about #masking policies at #synagogues for the upcoming high holidays.

Yesterday I found out that one my own rabbis won’t be leading #RoshHashanah services because she has COVID. She’s already dealing with long COVID, as well.

If you’re attending services this weekend, regardless of policy, wear a #mask. We’re in a surge, and we cannot allow these most holy days to become super spreader events.

There is a campaign of bomb threats against synagogues in the US. (These things have a habit of spreading to other countries).

Needless to say I stand with multitudes against any Nazi or fascist action. (Important to have a concrete and united response against any such action).

With bomb threats being called in against #libraries and #synagogues so much recently, has there been any coverage of it as a trend? All I can find is articles about the individual instances, but this is #stochasticTerrorism soup... what can we do before threats become actions?

Because I'm only seeing other #Jews posting about this, non-Jews I need you to be aware that for the past month or two there has been a wave of bomb threats and swattings at #synagogues all across the US. They usually do it when services are being livestreamed. I haven't seen a single non-Jew talking about this. High holidays are coming up in a few weeks, which is when most attacks happen against our #communities. We're worried, and we need #people to know what's happening to us.
