Joseph Wilson is a father, composer, librettist, singer, songwriter, pianist, art curator, and writer. He’s also incarcerated for murder. He learned music theory through workshops and became an opera composer who earned his stripes by singing for boisterous crowds of his fellow inmates. He tells his story through @marshallproj:

A Black man wearing a green shirt and pants against a blue background sits with a notebook in his hand. Behind him, from left to right, a man in orange wears blue headphones covers his face, a woman with blonde hair sings, and a person in olive green plays the violin. There is also a gray Walkman with orange headphones on the left and an orange keyboard on the right.

Time to show our creative team some love, kicking off with our composer Gary Shepherd. He composed the music for NOW WE ARE EARTH. Alongside that, he also composed a soundscape an immersive teaser for the performance, located at Opera Antwerpen.

Want to hear it for yourself? Please join us for our world premiere in Opera Antwerp.

@AccordionBruce the Pauline Oliveros opera "The Library of Maps" was an astonishing night. Staged in the Queen's Salon aboard the Queen Mary, "in the round" style on a dance floor filled with props and instruments, both electronic and acoustic. Meant to be absorbed and felt more than understood. Singers were spectacular. Heard but did not see an accordion; the first player was heralded onto the stage with a single, long note (I think P.O. once played an "A" for, like, a year.) #opera

Okay, so: I never watch my own videos back. I might listen to them, but don’t watch them.

Imagine my surprise when I actually did and noticed for the first time that there was a SKULL behind me! Blink and you’ll miss it: At 6 minutes 11 seconds I move a bit to the side and you can see it on the table behind me. Staring at my back!

It usually sits on my piano. My husband placed it there, deliberately, as he claims now, hoping it would be on camera!
