The meeting of the mosses

The junction of three different types of moss clumps. On the bottom right, the variety is small-leaved, and yellow-green in colour. The top-left one has longer stalks, and larger leaves. At the bottom left, everything is larger again, with a slightly paler sheen and some bald stalks - possibly sporophytes?

Amanita muscaria, the final picture. Tomorrow I will post it again, but with the lights on. I am much happier with the result then I thought I would be. It's right out of a fairy tale without being overly cute.

It’s funny how my opinion keeps shifting about pieces I’ve made. I wouldn’t make this the same way now—probably wouldn’t make an Amanita again for quite a while. Maybe never? But I do still like this one.
I think I’m just on a different path in my work now. I’m more drawn to the small, almost microscopic. Or maybe the very, very big—since I haven’t made anything huge in a long time.

My final #mosstodon find today was this #moss discoteque. I mean, what else could this be? Twiggy-skinny young trees with 1920s frocks of #HypnumCupressiforme or #Dicranum (I am not sure and would appreciate advice) shaking their booties on a vast floor of dead leaves.

Thin trunks of possibly baby trees that seem to wear layers of wispy fronds of lighter green moss draped all over the base of the trees like a flapper dress. All stand on a bed of curled and dead faded brown leaves.

Took a photo of these starry lovelies and learned their name: Juniper haircap, or Polytrichum juniperinum. There were many patches of these. Another wonderful #mosstodon find today. #moss

Rotten day all day so I was desperate for some therapy from Mother Nature and she delivered #FungiFriday on a Monday along with #mosstodon! I think we’re talking #TrametesVersicolor here. However, the one is fairly flat, and the other is more cupped like the basic structure of a rose. Not sure if they’re family or what. #moss

I love how moss is growing on the pieces of panelling that have fallen off the ceiling. It's such an odd thing to see - nature's slowly taking over, but it's somehow still confined to those symmetrical, unnatural shapes for the most part.
