For the 3rd entry of Poems for #NaPoWriMo / #NaPoGenMo 2025, the #Hydravideosynth code with aid from #OBS visualizes and distorts the poem to represent a distorted echo of the words. The additional sounds were coded in #SonicPi.

The Words Start to Echo
With their pace
Own space
Own room to roam
To speak
To elevate
To teach

a #livecoding environment with a staging/cueing/previewing feature...

(thinking concretely about visuals: having a small preview of currently modified shader, then pushing that to the projector in a single action. you can imagine applying the same idea to music)

Join us on 8th April at Vivid Projects for a VCV Rack Creative Coding Circle. VCV Rack is a free and open source software modular synthesiser for creating algorithmic and generative music.

We will explore basic usage of the software, and explore the vast library of virtual modules that allow you to create complex, intricate soundscapes.

You will then have time to experiment, learn with others, and share what you've learnt with other attendees.

No coding experience necessary, 18+ only.

Requirements:
* A Windows, Mac, or Linux laptop (sorry, Chromebooks, phones or tablets will not work)
* Headphones

Please note that these coding sessions are only open to Black people, which we define as Black African, Caribbean, Afro-Latinx and African-American heritage, including those of mixed-Black heritage who identify as such. These coding sessions will take place in-person at Vivid Projects.

I was telling my dad about #livecoding and he said if I could convert any music to code. So I thought.. wow! it should be possible to train something on strudel and its music output and expect it to be able to do it in reverse as well 🤯 wonder if anything like this exists already

I recorded a short tabla set with an onset detection system to visualize drum hits as a continuous spiral within the time cycle - using p5.js and hydra for visuals, coding melodic sequences in tidal cycles, and using VCV rack as a ghetto spectral flux-based onset detection.

#livecoding (or should I say deadcoding, because I don't have enough hands to play and code at the same time)
