When is a firearm not a firearm under Massachusetts General Laws?

When it was manufactured prior to 1900.

Yes, that's right, you can shoot and kill someone with an old revolver but they can't charge you with illegal possession of a firearm.

I went from going to #firearms ranges at least once a month to disliking almost all firearms. I'd never use a #handgun again. If I ever used any firearms again, it would be a #rifle & only out of genuine necessity - not 'just for fun'.

I abhor firearms for the most part now because of a few reasons. I disliked the misogynistic shit at ranges a lot. I disliked the racism/bigotry in many firearms addicted social communities. I didn't like the egos of many in those communities. I don't believe I need a firearm to actually defend myself against a home invader - which is the excuse many people use to obtain one or more guns. I don't like the environmental pollution that spent ammo leaves on the lands - most people don't pickup their casings at ranges or outside of ranges.

I can shoot several different firearms well. I have access to a few firearms. I just choose not to use any of them anymore.

A unanimous panel of judges of the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, in Boston, overturned that decision. They found that the lawsuit met the criteria for a part of the #law allowing for litigation in cases where knowing violations of #firearms laws are a direct cause of the plaintiff’s injuries.

#GunManufacturers asked #SCOTUS to hear the case, Smith & Wesson Brands v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos, No. 23-1141.

Lawyers for #Mexico argue that US #GunManufacturers & gun dealers are complicit in what they call an “#IronRiver” of #firearms pouring into the country & arming #cartels. They point to strict controls on gun purchases in Mexico, where civilians are not allowed to purchase the types of rapid-fire, powerful military-style weapons favored by the cartels, as evidence that as many as half a million firearms are smuggled from the #UnitedStates into Mexico each year.

ProPublica: Targeted: How Cambridge Analytica Used Intimate Data to Exploit Gun Owners’ Private Lives. “For years, some of America’s most iconic gun-makers turned over sensitive personal information on customers — without their knowledge or consent — to the gun industry’s main lobbying group. Political operatives then employed those details to rally firearms owners to elect pro-gun […]

3 weeks ago, the #DOJ was emphatic: #Trump may have pardoned Kentuckian Dan Wilson for #crimes he committed at the Capitol on #Jan6, but that #pardon did not extend to his unrelated conviction for illegally storing #firearms at his home.

Then, on Tues, the US atty in DC [#EdMartin] reversed course, saying it had “received further clarity” about Trump’s true intent, which included pardoning Wilson for the #gun case. Prosecutors did not explain how they arrived at this new “clarity.”

nice lists for people intent on being led in front of firing squads, and have no sense of history, nor of fascism.

the fascists in spain were (temporarily) defeated by the people in arms, in both labor unions and regional collectives.

the fascists in germany and italy were able to step into power because the italian and german people were not prepared to FIGHT them in the streets. not with non-violent, nor strictly 'legal' actions, but with armed resistance. italians did organize armed resistance, to their credit, and so did a few germans. not enough, though.

anyone who does not acknowledge this reality does not take fascism seriously, and is misleading people into thinking that fascists can be defeated - once in power - without a war.

thinking otherwise is setting oneself up for an appointment with a firing squad.

are we going to leave it up to the military to drive trump and musk out of their highly illegal takeover and dismantling of the US? do we really desire that?

all-in-all, your lists offer someplace to start, but offer no hope for overcoming what's happening in the states' and national capitols.
