I've been poking at Pixelfed, hoping to find a fediverse alternative to Google Photos. I don't think it's really what I need. But I do have some photos there -- here's a cool one: pixelfed.social/p/ddrake/81666

Copying that here: one thing I did not expect about Peru was the unbelievably rich culture of fiber arts. Weaving, spinning, knitting, dyeing, crochet, knitting -- it's EVERYWHERE. Women all over use woven cloth like this to carry things -- you just bundle up your stuff, tie the thing around your shoulders, and go. From groceries to small children, they carry everything.

These aren't just practical and functional, the patterns and colors are simply stunning!

I finished the pair of Mittens I started last Tuesday. I'm a tad disappointed by the yarn; the colour started out super vibrant and became muted throughout the same skein. It's not the first time I observed this. Ah well, the mittens are still fun. Also, Anniversary! These are the 20th pair of Wyverns & Witchlings Mittens I've made. :D

🧶🧶🧶 Getting a whole lot of knitting prep done today! Swatched for the Ivy Scarf in Giselle, color Cloud.

The four holes at the bottom are a little hard to read, should have put more stockinette rows before beginning lace. Supposed to indicate US4 (four yo + k2 holes). Live and learn.

This one is for a CNA eg medical aide named Marietta here in the nursing home, who always goes the extra mile.

I pulled it off! Surprised my husband with this quilt for his birthday. Took me a year of being sneaky. He’s nosy. 😆 The flying goose block is perfect as he loves to watch the Canada geese migrate. Our dog loves it and has decided it’s his. Stretches out on it on our bed every chance he gets. 🙄 #quilting #quilts #fiberarts

I made a functional thing today. I crocheted an Armrest Cover for my husband, because his ellbows need protection from the hard plastic armrest. It's essentially just a rectangle in single crochets, then I threaded an elastic through and pulled to tighten a bit. Knotted the elastic ends together and ta-daaa... The covers fit like a charm!
Yarn used is Katia Bambi, a bulky velvet yarn.

This month's hung kimono are both gorgeous examples of shibori tie dying combined with abstract painting and floral embroidery. The vivid green really brings the spring weather inside the living room.

The photo update with both kimono, three obi and a stunning cream haori now available over on Patreon.

Hanging folds of kimono silk were tied with shibori dot patterns and dyed in a vivid green and contrasting orange. Light green and gold geometric and grass-like patterns were then painted over the top. Lastly, the shiny and golden fan embroidery featuring chrysanthemum flowers completed the kimono motif.

That one was a cool project. A Newsboy hat made from recycled jeans cotton yarn, with an actual Jeans Button as an accent. You know what's cool about Jeans Buttons? No sewing, they are hammered in. :D
