I visited the #Dorchester Bike Kitchen for the first time this evening, several months after the 'Bike Mayor' Vivian Ortiz¹ encouraged me to participate during a conversation over a tube change during a @NeponsetGreenway group ride.

I'd like to make myself a regular. I don't need to do that much wrenching on my own bike (and own most of what I need to do my own now), but if I can help others, that'd be a huge win. And rubbing shoulders with other cyclists is a big deal for building community. It feels like a path to a slightly brighter future.

Weiß eins von euch, wie gut / effizient / sinnnvoll es ist, ein Singlespeed-Bike mit einem "eBike-Nachrüstsatz" auszustatten?

ZB durch ein Hinterrad, in das ein Nabenmotor eingebaut ist.

Oder es gibt ein System, bei dem eine Rolle von oben auf das Hinterrad drückt und es darüber antreibt (weiß nur den Namen davon nicht).

Sinnvoll, oder ggf. doch lieber zu einem "richtigen" eBike greifen?

Wahrscheinlich ist es den wenigsten hier aufgefallen, dass ich in der letzten Woche recht still im #Fediverse war. Ursache war ein unachtsamer Autofahrer, der mich letzte Woche bei seinem Linksabiegen vom #Fahrrad geschossen hat. Resultat sind zwei gebrochene Arme und ein Bruch am Halswirbel.

Ich könnte das hier wahrscheinlich heute nicht schreiben, wenn ich keinen #Helm getragen hätte. Darum mein Appell an alle, die mit dem #Rad unterwegs sind:

Ich feier meine 13jährige Tochter so! Sie fährt Rad mit zwei Freundinnen durch T 30 Wohnstraßen. An einigen wenigen Stellen ist stvo konformes Überholen möglich, an sehr vielen nicht. Zu schmal, zu kurvig, zu unübersichtlich, zu zugeparkt.
Sie fahren nebeneinander an einem, auf ihrer Seite geparkten, Auto vorbei.
Hinter ihnen kommt ein Auto. Die Fahrerin hupt sie an.
Als diese sie überholt hat, zeigen sie gepflegt den Stinkefinger hinterher
