MEPs seek a 70% ‘buy European’ ratio for EU defence cash.

MEPs have passed a report calling to reduce Europe’s reliance on non-EU suppliers, boost joint procurement, and strengthen the bloc’s defence capabilities.

The €1.5 billion European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP) should only fund products that include at least 70% of components produced within the EU or associated countries such as Ukraine and Norway, MEPs agreed..

Huawei fires two staffers in response to corruption scandal.

Huawei has fired two employees and suspended a third for their alleged involvement in a bribery investigation surrounding the Chinese technology giant and the European Parliament, POLITICO has learned.

It is unclear whether the three employees are the same as the Huawei officials who were preliminary charged.

Cognitive dissonance

Until February 2025, Europe had been a willing tool of US foreign policy. Realizing it just now, the rulers cannot change their belief in standing for good versus evil. So they choose to change their narrative from one of enlightenment to one of rearmament.

"In spite of all the grand-standing and posturing, Europe has been reduced to a geopolitical appendage of the United States, following Washington’s lead in prolonging the conflict while shouldering the costs. While the EU sees itself as a global moral authority, it has been sidelined in actual negotiations. Instead, peace talks are being brokered by the U.S. and China, with Europe playing no decisive role. Even within the European Parliament, there exists a near-religious belief in a narrative that contradicts basic military and economic realities."
