This was totality — photographed from my parents’ yard in Southern Illinois during the April 8, 2024 eclipse.
The sun’s corona was blazing, and we could even see flares along the edge.
A moment of awe, silence, and cosmic perspective.

@jeffluszcz Cool, enjoy! I flew into Boston and drove north to Houlton, Maine for the total solar eclipse last year (I didn't live anywhere near the path of totality). Got this poster, some other souvenirs, and most of all an awesome experience. I was standing under that clocktower during totality.

For some reason I was thinking about this today, so I thought I’d repost it
The Great American Eclipse - my article about last April's total solar eclipse (rather late as I had to wait for the journal publication): #dowsing #eclipse2024 #Burlington #StoneCircle

Memorable moment number 3: SO MANY CELESTIAL EVENTS! It began with the #Eclipse in April, where I traveled to Vermont to my parents' house, which was right in the path of totality, as was able to watch with my whole fam. It was truly awe inspiring and I still look back on it and smile.
Annular eclipse of the sun occurring right now... visible in the Southern Hemisphere and right here:

Here’s the moment when the “Full Harvest Moon / Super Moon” touched the lantern of the Old Head of Kinsale Lighthouse; as it rises over a flat-calm Courtmacsherry Bay in West Cork, Ireland on 17/09/2024! #SuperMoon #fullmoon #moon #Eclipse2024 #LunarEclipse #lighthouse #Cork #Ireland #september #equinox #Autumn #weather #autumnequinox #astronomy #astrophotography #photo #photography #mastophoto #mastodaoine #silentsunday #landscape #landscapephotography #art #sea #ocean #colour
If you spent last Wednesday morning in bed, you missed a beautiful view! This lovely shot of the partial #LunarEclipse was taken by #mpsgoettingen scientist Luca Teriaca from #Göttingen on Sept. 18th at 4.44 AM (CEST). Thanks for sharing! #Eclipse2024 #Moon
Tonight’s full Harvest Supermoon coincided with a partial lunar eclipse. This handheld image of the eclipsed moon was created on September 17, 2024 at 10:50pm EDT.
Partial lunar eclipse imminent, good clear sky for it. #eclipse2024 #lunareclipse #moon #nightsky
Finally had some time to process my photos of the polarized solar corona during the 2024-4-8 total eclipse. Shown here in false colour, the linear polarization angle is encoded into colour.
The corona's polarization is perpendicular to the radius.
From 12 colour photos taken between 15:27:46 and 15:29:28 with f/5.6; ISO-250; f = 128 mm; four exposure times 1/50, 1/5, 1, 2.5 sec. with three polarizations each: vertical (zenith toward top of image), +60°, et -60°.
#ISONewEngland’s profit model is based on a scarcity mindset, which works against abundant renewables and conservation. Exhibit A is ISO’s opposition to mentioning #DemandResponse as a tool to manage #eclipse2024.
For the rest of my term as a member of the #ConsumerLiaisonGroup I will be emphasizing an #abundancemindset to grow a resilient and healthy grid for all.
@flyingsquirrel Thanks. That makes me feel slightly better, because we were never going to hang out at the side of the road near Elmira for 3 hours.
I wax actually surprised at how many people we saw at the side of the road. I speculate that making a relatively small effort for the total eclipse primed people to get out for the aurora.
Finally got around to uploading the rest of my #eclipse photos and adding them to my #eclipse2024 album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/brownpau/albums/72177720316555035 -- including the partial phases and totality exposures at different shutter speeds.

Worked on this timelapse for a couple of weeks and tried to make it as smooooth as possible. It's about 99% vibration-free.
Enjoy it in 4K Resolution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjxud_tP0Ew
I also wrote this short story, inspired by the eclipse. A cozy little scifi, about coming home. 600 words:

It's hot off the presses, so apologies for any typos or confusion. Politely worded feedback is appreciated!
I tried to paint what I remember of the eclipse. Failed of course, but it helps me remember it a little better.
