STAGE+: Deutsche Grammophon 🇩🇪 one of the world's oldest record label, has just launched its own high-resolution streaming service for classical music. 🎻 It includes:

- Music (audio and video)
- Long concerts and operas
- Documentaries and behind-the-scenes interviews
- New audio releases and classic albums from Deutsche Grammophon and Decca

Everything is in high-quality audio with Dolby Atmos, available on TV, mobile, and web apps. Many videos will be in 4K with Dolby Atmos Music.

One of the main struggles that classical music lovers have with other mainstream music services is the search functionality. It's tricky to track down the definitive recordings of some of these composer-led works.

STAGE+ promises their search functionality uses optimised metadata to bring you the exact result. So, no more sifting through endless versions. :)

You can try it out by streaming the free content or enjoy a 30-day trial.

I was in rehearsal as a guest when Coastal Sound read this piece for the first time in their terrible rehearsal space in Coquitlam with a giant mirror facing the choir.

Vienna Teng is a programmer turned musician who wrote the song as a protest piece as Facebook and particularly a firm called Acxiom started to monitor what we consume on the internet and sell our data to advertisers.

Gaze Upon the Trees - Andrew Balfour

I'm proud that @chronosvocalensemble comissioned this work, and my voice is in the reference recording for the work. It has since been recently performed at the national ACDA conference.

Balfour is a Canadian Indigenous composer, and it's always a joy to work with him.

Fun fact: the working title of this work was "waterfall in spring".

Today I went to the Tucson Symphony's performance of Carmina Burana, which was fantastic. It gave me lots of happy memories of one of my favorite high school teachers, who taught us a few of the songs in Latin class. I think he chose the safest-for-teaching-to-minors songs, but I'm still kind of amazed he could teach that. I also studied Middle High German later, and I love that a few of the songs are in that. Today's concert had English subtitles going across a screen over the stage. It was funny to hear the audience giggle quietly as some of the subtitles came across. This piece is like 85% about sex, I think, and maybe some season ticket holders didn't know that? I don't think I've ever heard it live before, and it was really wonderful music. #Tucson #ClassicalMusic
