I built for myself this alter pc and thought it may be useful for others too. Parts are of EU origin. Cheap compared to Linux laptops, but its good enough to get a feel about life without bigtech. Its more for the average internet users than the Fediverse, but we need the average users to make an impact. Please help me with a boost, I would love to get feedback from a wider audience #buyeuropean #buyeuropeantech

My new workstation has a German PSU and CPU cooler, Swedish case, South Korean SSD and US memory and CPU. Sadly I assumed Kingston (memory) is not an US company and I didn't have much choice anyway, while there is no alternative for CPU. #buyeuropean

AushaFortress Europe vs. Corporations: Tackling Enshittification and Decay Capitalism through Regulations and Strategic Protectionism | Ausha This week, Ecu Radio takes a step back from the currently flooded news cycle and dive within the concept of Enshittification. This well-documented phenomenon happens when digital platforms inevitably worsen as they prioritise squeezing users, sellers, and workers for profit. But that’s just a symptom. It’s part of a global ailment we’ll call Decay Capitalism: a shareholder-driven race to the bottom where siphoning value matters more than creating it. A system where quality, ethics, and meaning are systematically sacrificed for speed, scale and above all, greed. It took the world by storm, and Europe isn’t unaffected, as corporations call for the dismantling of its protective acts, if not of the Union itself. Yet it resists. Through regulations, through consumers’ rights, through stringent health and safety standards, and through a foundational, democratic respect for its citizens. The #BuyEuropean trend might just be what strengthens its immune system. _ 👉 Support Ecu Radio on Steady here: https://steadyhq.com/en/ecuradio/about and unlock exclusive perks such as newsletters, Q&A sessions, polls and more. 🌐 https://www.ecuradio.eu _ All content is © Ecu Radio, created by Axel Thizon. "There is virtually no difference between digital sovereignty and true sovereignty"

In a op-ed published in Le Monde 🇫🇷 (French daily newspaper) this morning, Andy Yen, CEO of Swiss technology company Proton 🇨🇭 argues that Europe's reliance on foreign technology is undermining its sovereignty and economic independence.

He writes:

"Reducing our dependence on American and Chinese technologies is the first step towards regaining our sovereignty. If we require our schools and universities to stop buying American technologies, we will stop tying our children's future to these ecosystems. By stimulating demand for European technologies, we are promoting the creation of well-paid jobs here in Europe. These would be European companies that would pay their taxes in Europe, support our social protection systems, and fill public deficits. It is an investment in our collective future."

This goes beyond a simple boycott. 👀
