Realities of

[Me 20 years ago]: Bifurcation points, curls, and fractal dimensions elegantly bring order to systems thought to be disordered.

[Me now]: If you assume a spherical cow and put the dog on it's head then you can solve for the cat and we can all go home.

I guess for my part, I feel like this is further pushing me into other fields, probably #appliedmath and #physics

I will always be a computer scientist. CS fundamentals will always be a critical component of how I analyze and solve problems, and from it I've learned a set of some of the most powerful skills in the modern world.

What I suspect- and fear may happen to CS though, is that the fundamentals will migrate one-by-one out to adjacent fields, leaving only the trend-chasing.

Hello there. So, I never thought I'd ever be using Mastodon for this and its a longshot but I'm looking for a paid job in #virginia. I'm a senior in College and I'm going to be graduating with a degree in business management in May and I want to be ready. For my skills, I'm well-versed in #Microsoft products, particularly #MicrosoftExcel and #MicrosoftWword though Excel is my prefered application considering I wish to work with spreadsheets. Yes, I'm totally blind but that shouldn't be an issue because of #screenreaders and #ADA #accommodations and #RemoteWork. So, if anyone is looking for a dedicated person who genuinely enjoys helping others and working with functions from #statistics to #financial functions using #appliedMath, I am willing and able to work for you and what I don't know, I'm willing to learn so help me #GetFediHired. Resume will be sent apon request through DM's. Thank you, and boosts are absolutely encouraged.

#introduction Hello! I am the editor in chief of #Solar Today. I also report on #physics, #engineering, and #appliedmath for Popular Mechanics. I'm a double graduate of the UW-Madison - I have a B.S. in #mechanicalengineering and have an M.S. in science and environmental #journalism from the Nelson Institute. In my free time, I am an avid reader of books and news, am into #dance and functional fitness, and participate in the local alternative #music scene.

#introduction

I’m a first year grad student at #UW #Seattle in the #neuroscience PhD program. I’m still rotating but I am studying how sensorimotor circuits in #Drosophila compute - right now in a network model, soon in real flies 🪰. Undergrad was in #appliedmath but with a neuro focus. Brains are weird, invertebrates are cool, building models is (sometimes) fun

I grew up in #RhodeIsland. I play piano/keyboard and I’m trying to learn electric guitar. I enjoy all things ocean-related. 🦑
