I just found I have a copy of the 2006 DVD release of Star Wars (aka 'Episode IV - A New Hope').
It's got a 2nd disc with the unaltered 1977 version of the film. I understand it's a sorta not-great transfer of the laserdisc release.
Still! I've been wanting to rewatch this for ages!
Ah, the feeling you get when you've just booked tickets for the original #StarWars at the lovely, old Cameo Cinema in late August.
Taking very dear chum with me so we can relive our childhood. Also wondering what Cameo's policy is on lightsabers...
Still remember how 9 year old me was blown away by that opening with the Star Destroyer thundering across the screen.
I really wish fighting sequences were even a bit more realistic, rather than the whirling twirling fantasy Hollywood style fake acrobatics. They could still be exciting, just a little less gymnastic dancing. At worst, computer generated dancing.
Recently seen in #TheAcolyte. #StarWars #ANewHope actually had more realistic fencing.

All three original #StarWars are pretty spectacular. Wish there was a 4K version of them somewhere. All I have is the DVD of #ANewHope.
