long shot request for help

a couple weeks back i stumbled on a website. a guy makes custom and one-off audio pedals (some guitar, some for other purposes) and sells them. he had at least a couple dozen different devices for sale, maybe more. they all look home-made

i recall that only a handful of the devices were guitar pedals, but a search for those brough me to his page

one of his devices was a hand-held thing that picks up electrical and/or magnetic waves. the idea is to walk around city streets and pick all kinds of weird sounds from around you

i thought i bookmarked the site, but did not. can't find it in my history

maybe using the initials LS?

finally, of copurse,if you know of anyone else making and selling things like this i'd love to know about them

OK, so, another first for me: What to look for when buying a preamp tube...?

My trusty PUE5 stomp board seems to have blown its tube, or maybe just worn it out - the glow is barely visible & the tube is lukewarm to the touch, which I understand to be tell-tale signs that it's gone.

I've never had to buy one before & have no idea what, if anything in particular, to look for 🤔

Hey Mastodon users!
Have you ever seen an Audi e-tron display Mastodon on its main HMI display?

Probably not!
This was enabed by one of our products - the ZERO FPDLinkNode, which is part of our AMPS (Advanced Modular Prototyping System). The FPDLinkNode is plugged in between the native vehicle display-/touch unit and the HMI controller. This way we're able to manipulate display contents and create a visual overlay.

The overlay enables us to display the vehicle's own content and at the same time show new content on the display without disrupting the native functionality. In this example, however, we have set the FPDLinkNode so that the native Audi user interface is completely overlaid.

“We face our amps backwards so that they can be as loud as possible. Feedback is really important to us”: DIIV are reimagining shoegaze with cheap pedals, communal gear and all-encompassing distortion
Melding dirt boxes and cranked amps with loops and drum machines, the NY rock group are not playing around as they steer shoegaze into bold new soundscapes

The German defense manufacturer #Hensoldt issued a press release on Wednesday, June 5 announcing that it had received a new order for its Airborne Missile Protection System (#AMPS) to equip #Ukraine’s helicopters.

While Hensoldt’s statement did not give details of quantities or the value of the order, the Janes defense publication says it could be worth an eight-figure dollar amount.

Kyiv Post · German Manufacturer to Provide Ukraine with More Helicopter Protection SystemsBy Steve Brown

We at ZERO GmbH have completed our first prototype to display our own content in vehicle on-board systems. The touch function of the display can also be used to write ZERO in the most beautiful font ✍️ 😅

So...why all this? With the help of our AMPS platform, our customer can easily show new designs or functions in a vehicle and bring them to life - without having to access the series components directly.

And "easily" really means "easily":
Connect computer viaHDMI => switch on via button or CAN => be happy 🥳

I posted something in here yesterday, and then replied to myself this morning. Guitar gear stuff. And then I decided that I really ought to have written it all up as a blog post. So I copied what I'd said in two posts in here and then pasted it in over there, and have just deleted the posts in here. And now I will post a link to the blog. I can hear the efficiency experts squirming. Sorry. I don't have to make sense. It's the weekend. #Guitar #Pedals #GearSquad #Blogspot #Amps #Music #TooManyHashtags
