Tamil Nadu should become so scientifically advanced, so that we can have one language policy like Japan, Germany, China etc..

I sought out to build a stemmer for #Tamil and started from scratch. I do not have any proper NLP theoretical background & learning as I go.

The progress so far:
1. The alphabet of #Tamil (247 letters) is covered
2. They are grouped into their corresponding class
3. Support for representing a "Sol/Chol" (a word)
4. A chol can be tokenized to their basic unit of letter (Ezhuthu).
5. The pitch of a letter (oli) can be identified.
6. Maathirai of a word (the length of oli) can be calculated.

Made some minor improvements to the #Tamil tokenizer in #Python. ஒரு எழுத்து என்ன எழுத்து மற்றும் என்ன வகை ஆகிய விவரங்கள் கண்டறியலாம்.

A couple of days back I saw an issue created by @shrini in Kaniyam's Github repo regarding a need to build a clean #Python based #Tamil stemmer.

I am not sure if I can do that, but I have started with something which I believe will help us achieve that. I may be reinventing what is already present in the open-tamil package, but it is necessary for me to learn & progress.

I have started with letters & words eventually hoping to codify the grammar of the language.

I wish more independent Indian media houses & social movements have their presence in #Fediverse. That would help the #Indian diaspora to consider sticking to the Fediverse.

In the last 7 years of my presence in Fediverse there was only 1 exodus of #Indian and #Tamil diaspora into Fediverse. That too as a protest against #Twitter censorship.

Between the producer - consumer dilemma, the producer should always be the first.
