Entertainment shows, #TheDailyShow #DesiLydic #StevenColbert #JimmyKimmel etc are bouncing around the theory that #Liberationday was _one_ of these

1. #Trump really really wanted to force CEOs to build production factories in the US. ⭕NOTE, most CEOs made no plans, to do this. Market and T Bond selling STOPPED HIM

2. Trump created this event, #insidertrading

I think it was 1 (he ignors advisors) and then fell back to 2 (#SCOTUS, crime is ok)

Am I bummed not to watch John Oliver and Steven Colbert anymore?

I was at first, but I realized that they are engaging in hyperbolic rabble rousing that I can't stand from the other side, and once I became the target I realized how "point and laugh" or "point and demonize" is so much of the problem, and I could be doing other things with my time.

I do miss the comedy aspect, but I don't feel I'm really missing out.

Colbert doesn't bring up the antisemitism or concerns by Jewish students. He doesn't bring up the fact that Jews have been blocked from campuses, or that protest demands often include demands to remove Jewish institutions such as Hillel from campuses.

In that way, I feel his antisemitism is worse than Oliver's, which absolutely crosses the 3D test, but can still be seen as limited in scope to Israel, while Colbert, who works in NYC, with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, who has worked with (and may still work with) Jews, does not even bother to address their concerns- not thousands of miles away on another continent, but right there, in the same city.

While neither are good, to me, Colbert's monologue is worse, since he simply erases Jews.

I was a big fan of Colbert for decades, but I can't watch him now.

I've been processing the Steven Colbert antisemitism and the John Oliver antisemitism.

If you haven't been paying attention, Oliver's coverage of the war in Gaza way back in 2023 had elements of antisemitism, and failed the 3D test. wisela.org/john-oliver-fails-n

Colbert, on the other hand, made a very different type of monologue. Colbert, who does his show from NYC, talked about the campus protests in April 2024. Colbert's antisemitism was more subtle. Instead of attacking Jews, Colbert erased them entirely while also moving the goal post.

He said "As long as the protests are peaceful, they should be allowed to continue.". The word "peaceful" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. A protest can be hateful and also peaceful. A KKK march in which no one gets hurt is hateful and wrong, but could, through this lens, be seen as "peaceful".
