It is interesting how dogmatic our thinking is. If I imagine myself as a person, my awareness. I have a set of senses, and through them I receive streams of information through time.. timelines. And I do social networking my entire life, since birth. Yet in no way does my world look anything like , or even for that matter. My initials are A.S. and I just `as:Like` to `as:Note` this now and then. 😅

I know it’s Substack, and I need to migrate a lot of stuff off it, but I had this #ShowerThought in October 2023. This came on the heels of the whole Mike Johnson speakership mess.

I can’t predict the future, but I can see around corners.

There’s certain moments of clarity achieved where I didn’t want to be right.

The typical lifecycle:

1. idea
2. git init, start pipeline
3. code, don't forget

It is great for doing what you love to do as a coder: . It is less great if over time your coded work becomes popular, and all kinds of boring other considerations must be dealt with.

One easily ends up in a situation, and if not delegating timely, on a burnout vector.

This kind of ad-hoc also leads to : tech-only perspective.

Ever wondered how a Volkswagen was made and how fast it rolled off the production line, or something as complex as a space shuttle? Big industry can do what foss can only dream of. Foss devs cannot dream of a well choreographed grassroots ecosystem, because there aren't examples to follow, other than ones that devolve in hierarchic power structures. Foss is a failure, and where it is not it is survivor bias.

Hedonic commons-based peer production is needed.

Logging Software in Amateur Radio is like building a CMS for your first website. It's never finished, it's never feature complete, it never works quite right on any machine, other than the one it was written on and when someone else likes it and asks you for a feature, all development stops immediately.

"Commercial science" is a good term to denounce this shady practice that withholds knowledge and wisdom discovered with public money in order to use it for and its greed fests.

#showerthought 2: When such a gadget becomes available and accepted by consumers there should be a drop in the stats of the tag in social media.

#showerthought 3: There probably is or even are investors already watching the stats of this tag while monitoring the market of emerging possible gadgets.
