Look what I have? 🦌

This is 'Bucky', a novelty mechanical deer that has a remote control with a microphone.. what if (am I giving this away?), I put this in the greenhouse today, so I can have words with Doris tomorrow?
#Deer #PestControl

The widespread use of chemical #pesticides has raised concerns regarding environmental impact, health risks and the long-term sustainability of modern #farming.
To shed light on this Tokyo University of Science, closely examined the fine molecular interplay that occurs between spider mites and their host plants to test the theory of plant #pestcontrol.

Flies (of the lord?)

We've gotten the inside under control with the UV fly attractor + roaster lamp and meticulously killing every single one we see in the house.

But outside is another story. Any warm surface is covered in them. I don't think the colour matters, they just sit where it's sunny.

There's not even any livestock around, so not sure why. The neighbours cows are a decent distance away too. No manure either.

Need more frogs! :)

_The Evening Post_, 14 February 1925:
LOCAL AND GENERAL

Respecting the earwig nuisance, the director of the #Cawthron Institute wrote to the last meeting of the #Kaikoura County Council as follows:—Referring to inquiry re earwigs, which infest the shingly ground near the sea, the insect was a native of New Zealand, and the institute knows of no method of dealing with it except by means of poisoned bait. The insects are partial to slices of apple, which, if peppered with arsenate of lead, would kill them. The director knows of no instance where earwigs had been imported from other countries as enemies of other pests.

The plot thickens.... There seems to be a deceased critter in the crawlspace. It's uncertain what exactly, but probably some sort of rodent -- a mouse, maybe a rat.

The #crawlspace is all but hermetically sealed, with no easy access spots, so a #pestcontrol person is coming out tomorrow to evaluate the situation. The HVAC guy went under the house today and said the stench under the house near the broken vent was really bad. Evidently, my elastomeric respirator yesterday really did its job 😅

Looking for help with #PestControl for a nightmare of a #PestInfestation that I'm suffering through my 4th month of.

Exterminator hasn't helped; he thinks it's in my head.

But the bites *hurt* (like a smaller version of a horsefly), & they *bleed* when I squeeze em (but only when recent; they dry quick).

They look like petechiae, but that's ruled out from above symptoms. The bites don't cluster. They mostly occur around dawn/dusk.

I used to have fleas at the start of this but I *think* I took care of them (no sign of em on the sticky traps). I think no-see-ums are what I'm struggling with, but they're able to bite me under my clothes (even with the sleeves sealed with hair ties, though admittedly my clothes have small holes from cats) so mites aren't off the table.

I do laundry often, every 1-3 days, & have attempted the following treatments: flea & tick pesticide sprays, diatomaceous earth, ozone generator (30 minutes/day for a week), DEET, picaridin, peppermint & citronella oils, AC under 65° (recently removed to seal apartment in case the source was outside).

Can anyone help? Even with tags I could add to request #help here? Like #infestation or #FuckParasites or #noseeums or anything? Boosts appreciated, I'm really at wit's end here.

Rentokil plans to release entosite parasitoid wasps into the nooks and crannies of museums, heritage sites and homes to stop moth infestations.

Florida Is Now Using Drones to Fight Mosquitoes

Local governments are turning to automated vehicles to take out dangerous, disease-spreading bugs.

"These drones, however, are getting right into the battle with the insects, and other counties across the U.S. are doing the same. In California, Orange and Santa Clara counties, among others, recently began doing a similar tactic with drones. "
