Back from Sacred Space Conference where I offered "Solarpunk Pentacle: A Narrative for Action." I love the insights that came through from participants--one of the joys of teaching...which really becomes co-creating with the group.

So wonderful to be among folx I rarely get to see (hi @thorncoyle !) and meet so many new folx. We drew over 500 #Witches and #pagans. World-changing #magic !

@susankayequinn 's zines for the Bright Green Futures anthology were a hit!

When the real #WitchHunts begin, remember... Anyone the #ChristianRight doesn't like is considered a witch! Just like in the 1600s! Piss off the proctor? You're a witch! Have more land than Goodie Smith? You're a witch! Are you a man with a husband? You're a witch!

Concerns Over Targeting of Pagan Community in #Pickens, #SouthCarolina

By Manny Moreno | February 25, 2025

Excerpt: "On February 18, a YouTube video titled 'Witches Be Crazy with Pastor Barry Vaughn' was released by Kevin Harden of Gaining Ground Ministries. The video opens with Harden quoting Deuteronomy 18:9-12, which warns against practices like divination, sorcery, and necromancy.

"Pastor Barry Vaughn and Harden discuss a recent witchcraft festival in Pickens and their efforts to evangelize at the event. Vaughn confirms his presence and states that he and others initially protested outside the venue, later entering the facility before being told to leave.

"Following the backlash, Stillwater Christian Fellowship escalated its response through sermons, podcasts, and videos. Members called on pastors to 'chase the wolves out', a phrase that critics argue refers to witches, #LGBTQIA+ individuals, and #AbortionRights supporters.

"Vaughn later clarified in a video that he does not promote violence but supports the enforcement of what he calls 'God’s law.'" [What about eating shellfish? Or mixing threads together? HYPOCRITES!]

"From the feminist self-expression of witchcraft to the conspirituality fuelling QAnon, neo-pagan-inflected thinking seemingly offers agency and insight into what social theorist Theodor Adorno called any 'consciousness famished for truth.'”

Our thoughtful new reading list from Sam Firman considers how the rise of paganism reflects modern life:

The Scottish #Pagan Federation unveils a new #tartan

By Manny Moreno | February 24, 2021

EDINBURGH – "The Scottish Pagan Federation (#SPF) has announced its official tartan to coincide with its 50th-anniversary celebration.

"The Federation was founded in 1971, with Scotland becoming a specific district in the early 1990s and becoming an independent organization in 2006. The SPF welcomes members from all #Pagans traditions.

"The Federation’s 100% wool tartan has now been officially registered with the Scottish Federation of Tartans in Edinburgh, a process that can take months to years between creation, research, and final application. The idea of a specifically Scottish Pagan tartan was originally conceived towards the end of 2019 and was born from SPF’s active role in an interfaith discussion where it was observed that other faith communities were launching their own tartans (for example, a Scottish Muslim tartan)."

🔴 ‘Ex-Pagan Pagans’? Paul, Philo, and Gentile Ethnic Reconfiguration

I argue that, similar to Philo’s proselyte inclusion strategy, Paul incorporates Gentiles-in-Christ into ethnic Israel. As Abraham’s ‘offspring’, Paul suggests that his addressees not only gain membership in Israel’s covenant on account of Israel’s messiah, but that they also acquire a new ethnic identity despite that their prior identities as ‘the Gentiles’ are not erased.

I've got a huge announcement to make!

This coming April 27th I will be giving a presentation at the Harvard Divinity School's Program for the Evolution of Spirituality on confronting White supremacy in Heathenry. It is part of a larger conference on alternative spiritualities engaging in our colonial and decolonial contexts with lots of presentations scheduled that I highly recommend.

The best part is this conference is free to attend, both in-person and online via Zoom.

All of the necessary information, including registering and the conference schedule, can be found at the following link:

hds.harvard.eduProgram for the Evolution of SpiritualityThe Program for the Evolution of Spirituality (PES) at Harvard Divinity School supports the scholarly study of emerging spiritual movements, marginalized spiritualities, and the innovative edges of established religious traditions.

Many #norse #polytheist/ #pagans might not like it, but no. the Wolf #Fenrir is NOT a "good boy" and betraying him was necessary to bind chaos, greed and destruction upon the world.

The sacrifice of #Tyr made him such a venerable character.

Spotify for PodcastersEpisode 10 - Fenrir the Fearsome Fiend by Norse Mythology: The Unofficial GuideIn the future the world as we know it will be destroyed. But this can't happen before we introduce all the major players. In this episode we'll discuss the origins of Hel, the World Serpent, and the monstrous wolf Fenrir, and we'll see how the way Fenrir became an enemy of the gods is all too easy to misunderstand without the proper context of the Norse world view. What does it mean to be an outcast? What does it mean to have your fate decreed by prophecy? And could things have gone another way? Let's find out together.
