Pesticide immunity bill advances from Iowa Senate. Opponents say it gives the ‘wolf the keys to the hen house’. Senator Donahue noted recent research showing Iowa has some of the highest rates of new cancer in the country. Senator Weiner noted evidence uncovered during Roundup litigation that show #Monsanto ghostwrote independent studies to support the safety of glyphosate. “If they did everything right, why are there reams of discovery emails showing that they lied?” iowacapitaldispatch.com/2025/0

$2 billion Roundup verdict drives down Bayer shares as company seeks legal immunity. The New Lede · $2 billion Roundup jury verdict drives down Bayer shares as company seeks law changeBy Carey Gillam A Georgia jury verdict ordering Bayer AG to pay over $2 billion to a man suffering from cancer he blamed on his use of Roundup weed killer comes as that state’s governor weighs whether to sign into law a measure that would effectively bar such cases from going to trial in the future. Friday’s verdict rocked Bayer investors, driving down the German company’s shares more than 8% on Monday. The Georgia jury found that Bayer, which bought Roundup maker Monsanto in 2018, failed to properly warn users of years of scientific evidence that exposure to Roundup could cause cancer, awarding plaintiff John Barnes $2 billion in punitive damages and $65 million in compensatory damages. Barnes developed non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) after using Roundup to spray weeds around his home in Dalton, Georgia, from 1999 to 2019, purchasing the herbicide from Home Depot stores. He was diagnosed with NHL in 2020 and has endured multiple rounds of treatment and one recurrence of the disease, though he currently is in remission, according to his lawyers. He is one of more than 100,000 people in the US who have filed lawsuits alleging they developed cancer due to use of Monsanto’s weed killers. Barnes, a father, grandfather and former Marine, testified in the three-week trial that the disease and treatment have taken a lasting toll. “With this cancer … there is no cure,” Barnes testified. He cried as he described persistent fear that his time with his family may be limited. “Every day is worry, not just for me but my family.”

Monsanto says its track record—it has won 17 of about two dozen Roundup-cancer cases—shows it wins if it gets a fair trial. But #Monsanto lost ALL its initial cases. Its track record is due to its then settling huge numbers of cases and only fighting those it's sure it can win. Yet it has still lost some of those cases big time! ⚖️ bloomberg.com/news/articles/20

Note how Bayer’s CEO, Bill Anderson, dismisses lawsuits brought by cancer victims — seeking justice for the harm they believe Roundup has caused them — as ‘frivolous.’ Their suffering and the evidence, often from internal company documents, proving #Monsanto knew Roundup could cause cancer are anything but ‘frivolous.’

Ever wonder who came up with the disaster that's plastic turf? Yes, fake grass was originally developed and patented (as ChemGrass then AstroTurf™) by #Monsanto—the same firm that brought us massively polluting PCBs, its brand of DDT, foetotoxic 2,4,5-T, dioxin-laden Agent Orange, Roundup and Roundup Ready crops..☠️☣️☠️ mercurynews.com/2025/01/25/opi

Bayer-Konzern erwirtschaftet abermals Milliardenverlust

Former #Monsanto President and CEO Robert Shapiro was a Theranos director for several years. Monsanto also failed to deliver on its fairytale promises but unlike Theranos found a way to monetize its products’ failure. More on this here gmwatch.org/en/106-news/latest
