Are there any angels available to be a regular supporter?

I don’t always agree with #GetUp campaigns, but in this instance there is a lot of evidence ( #Murdochmedia ) to support their assertions. In any case, #NegativeGearing and #CapitalGains are two inflationary policies which need to go. My fervent hope is for Labor to be reelected in 2025 to give them the confidence to drop the sheepish attitude and get on with truly progressive policies, include this one.

“As the year comes to a close, let’s not forget how the Murdoch empire is keeping housing unaffordable for everyday people. By protecting corporate greed and blocking bold housing reforms, they’re driving up prices and leaving families behind. But 2025 is our chance to fight back. #HousingJustice #PeopleOverProfit #FairHousingForAll #EndNegativeGearing #StopCorporateGreed

DL Moody, American evangelist, considers the Centurion from Matthew 8, who took care of his servant. Moody says this biblical example is in contrast to the modern idea that our responsibility to a worker ends with paying their wages.

Is this statism, or or simply acting on the notion that our workers are dear to us?

How can you act as if those who work for you, or supply you services, are dear to you?

We all know that homelessness itself is criminalized, especially following the passage of Boston's tent ban ordinance last fall and the Supreme Court's ruling in Grants Pass V. Johnson earlier this summer. Warm Up's Legal Working Group is trying to chip away at the effects of this. Read on for more about our Court Support Program, an update on our Bail Fund, and how YOU can get involved!

I wrote this article about a rent strike that started in two Kansas City apartment complexes, and organizers are working to spread this campaign to buildings across multiple US states.

The purpose is not just to fix things at the building level; this ambitious campaign is strategically targeting buildings strikes in a way that aims to force the the hand of a federal regulator, the FHFA, to lock in tenant protections.

Shelterforce · Could This Rolling Rent Strike Make the Feds Protect Tenants? With a rent strike, organizers aim to catalyze a crisis to pressure a major federal housing regulator to lock in tenant protections.

Real estate agents are rarely considered the victim. But when it comes to the behemoths of property listings in Australia, estate agents have faced price gouging to the tune of a 5000% price rise over the last 15 years for a 'premium' listing on the market-dominant platform. Without paying for that 'premium' service, properties tend to disappear from search results.

Since the behemoth in question is a subsidiary of (and substantially bankrolling) Australia's dominant media company (i.e. #Murdoch), with a market capitalisation greater than supermarket giant #Coles, here is yet another reason the political duopoly are reluctant to touch structural #TaxJustice issues such as #NegativeGearing or #CapitalGainsTax.

Throughout this ordeal @MelissaAurora has suffered tremendously, but she remains one of the most upbeat and positive people I've met struggling with insecure housing.

Her latest setback is an all too common one, she got evicted while filling out paperwork and waiting to be accepted into public housing. This resulted in not being able to receive critical pieces of mail which has meant she needed to stay in hotels or rent for longer than expected.

This article describes exactly the kind of building I live in: 1960s walkup apartment in #Vancouver, no substantial renovations since, wiring unable to handle AC, retains heat, windows do not really provide much ventilation. we need massive government investment to make a liveable urban environment for working & low income people here. the private sector truly does not give a shit.

“The whole dynamic of housing finance has shifted,” said O’Brien. “It has become so much harder to make these projects [ profitable ..so we'll just throw in a little #artwashing and wait til someone calls it an eyesore and sell it off ] ”

There - fixed it Mr O'Brien. Thanks The Glob.
