Henry Darger’s Ghost

“I know karate, voodoo too”, from Tom Waits’ song Goin’ Out West.

This was the first time I tried condensing one of my stories into an image. The car was supposed to be a motorcycle but I added too much watercolor by accident the front end enlongated into a car. Decided to keep it instead of fixing it. Planned on putting a human resting on the half wall but I need more practice with humans to pull that off.

A car parked behind dividing wall next to what I’m saying is a fuel pump in front of an entrance to an underground city. A little bit of sky is present in the top right corner. When under a black light the sky actually glows. The car is a pink convertible and the fuel pump is orange with drops of red to give a sun-kissed look. Not realistic, kind of a blurry dreamlike quality due to the texturing I did to make the shapes i wanted.

No #aurora for us as the clouds remained overhead as long as I was out. However it stayed still and calm so there were a series of stunning #reflections around the bay. The #Hebredian seas of the North Atlantic are rarely this calm! 🙂

This was handheld, so the slight wobble and image compression gives a somewhat painterly or dreamlike feel... I think... what you could call either a bad photo or a #HappyAccident , depending on your view of the result 😄

A reflected view of a harbour at night. The sea and sky are entirely black which contrasts strongly with the strip of reflected houses along the centre of the frame. A white hulled boat, sitting in the water on the left is most prominent, moving right there is a red roof of a house, the rest of the building obscured, and then 5 white houses receding around to the right. They are brightly lit by LED lamps so retain their white colour. The image is softened by a long exposure making everything look painterly.
