Lol, six months ago if you were waving a Canadian flag from an overpass or your car you were a a Trump supporter, MAGA, Fuck Trudeau, Pollievre supporting asshole. Now you are waving a Canadian flag from an overpass and I can hope you are just a misguided nationalist. So I guess there's that. Sigh.

"That one must defend supply management at all costs — but never propose expanding it into other agricultural sectors, weirdly — is part of the basic received-wisdom package uploaded into all federal politicians’ cerebral cortexes upon their arrival in Ottawa. Otherwise they will feel the wrath of the Terrifying Big Dairy Lobby."

Supply management is a system designed to make healthy food more expensive for Canadians.

@NunavutBirder This time around, it's not just a vote for a party, it's a vote for our country. We're not just giving a mandate to a party, we're giving the next government a mandate internationally. If only 60% of us show up to vote, that's a far weaker mandate than having 95% participate. I would love nothing more than to have our next PM be able to say that he has the support of an absolute majority of Canadians when he goes into negotiations, or when he tells a certain fool to take his 51st state bullcrap and shove it.

On the latest episode of the #PaulWells podcast, he and Vassy Kapelos agree that "there's not a lot of daylight" between #MarkCarney and #PierrePoilievre on how we should respond to the #TrumpTariffs (and on policy in general).

This is how I'm feeling about #elxn45 as well. I'll be disappointed if the #CPC doesn't win and the Liberals are rewarded despite ten years of no per capita growth (etc.); but at least Mr. Carney would have some good policies.

If you've been following commentary in the election, you've no doubt heard the advice that #PierrePoilievre needs to "pivot", re-focusing his campaign on opposition to Pres. Trump rather than on quality of life and economic growth. Here's a column making the counter-argument:

The article points out that 38% is a good level of support for the #CPC, normally enough to win.

"“I’m pleased that there’s such interest in my doctoral thesis. It’s sort of languished on the shelf for over three decades,” said Carney in response to a question from the National Post during a campaign announcement in Winnipeg on Tuesday."

It took a few days, but #MarkCarney found a smart response.
