Fun fact I came up with my username because the day I made this account I had just seen a tweet made by an Italian-American woman who desperately wanted to feel oppressed and said WAP was offensive for being named after the anti-italian slur and "wet ass papers" popped in my mind and I thought it was the funniest shit.

@wetpaper you know what we need? We need more people telling us more about their username. 🤭

@wetpaper mine is the title of a song by the Japanese rock band The GazettE, the song is called defective tragedy and I've been using this for over 10 years on all social medias that required a username because I literally have no idea what to use. 🤷🏼‍♀️

As I loved this song very deeply, I used it and keep using it. 🤭

@wetpaper i am italian and i have never heard about any anti-italian "slurs" and I'm curious

Also why *are* italian-americans

@Aranciaallegra the term WOP is what the person was referring to. It stands for "without papers." It dates back to when Italians began to immigrate to America in the late 19th/early 20th century and before they became "white" (by aligning themselves with white supremacy). But Italians have effectively been white in the US for a long time now.
