@Skoll3 btw vs libre/open/free, they literally arent interchangeable

free: in english its ambiguous and "libre" or "gratis" is prefered when theres confusion
open: you can physically review code that may still be restricted by copyright, therefore you arent necessarily able to modify or use the code
libre: you have the liberty to do what you will with the software

I assume that like most people when I first heard "free" in "free and open source software" I assumed it referred to "free of cost" and not "liberty from developer oppression". Therefore I was mislead into thinking it was open source that was important not freedom. It is for this reason I use the phrase "libre software" in order to provide less confusion to new contributors. fsf.org/about/what-is-free-sof

I've written a lot, in other places about how the modern web is a trashfire. I'm not going to re-hash all those ideas here, but I'll sum up:

- Massive downloads for no reason
- Arbitrary code execution
- Tracking you constantly (advertising)
- Increasingly silo'd
- Tracking you constantly (NSA Panopticon)
- Bad Laws (we'll discuss this at length.)
- EME/DRM in browsers
