I'm an open education advocate and I share my Wikipedia skills with whomever may seek them. Based in Stockholm.
I joined social.coop because an alternative needs to be governed differently and great people like @clhendricksbc and @dajbelshaw have only ever led me to good stuff.
Hi all! I'm in the market for a new phone (or at least, I expect to be soon...) and I want to make a more ethical choice than I did last time. I can find very little about the #shiftphone and would love to hear if some people on here have experience with it and/or can tell me anything useful based on the specs. I prefer a smaller phone, so the 5.3 is more appealing to me than the new 6m. Are shiftphones modular at all?
I'm also curious about #fairphone #fairphone2 and how they compare to shiftphones. I've heard rumours about the #fairphone3 announced to be released in 2018, but I an only find some old stories about that. Does anyone know more? What do you all think, is a newer fairphone worth the wait over a shiftphone? For the record, I'm not even sure I can get a shiftphone in the Netherlands...

@thelibrarian @robertwgehl fwiw I appreciate how Amaroq (iOS app which is usually how I use Mastodon) gives so much space to the alt text prompt when uploading a photo & how it labels that prompt “Describe image for the visually impaired”. These seem like good patterns to promote image description. How does mastalab handle this?

Do you have a project in mind for an open textbook or other open educational resources? The Rebus Community is inviting new projects for its beta rollout of its new platform for project organization, recruiting of collaborators, and more. Particularly looking for projects from outside of N. America and that include marginalized voices. I have a project w/Rebus and they're great!

@clhendricksbc I'd love to know more about how your interests in co-ops and teaching do or don't intersect! How do they? I'm trying to figure that out for myself.
